    duncan question

I've been using red sea coral pro salt for about a year with great results but, due to budgeting issues, I was forced to go back to reef crystals about a month ago. The salt change didn't seem to affect anything but my ducan has been closed up ever since. I know coral pro has higher...

    little white creatures

Hi all. Haven't been on in a while and I might have already asked this question but here goes. At night when moon lights are on, these small white creatures come out. They seem to enjoy crawling on the glass. At first I thought they were pods of some sort but they have small antennas and don't...

    Irma troubles

Well,we made it through the storm although Irma decided to take a turn towards Orlando at the last minute. We had no power here for 7 days. But good luck was on our side. Our daughter had a friend that let us use their generator. My tank was only down for 2 days. So...what was the first thing I...

    Irma troubles

getting ready for hurricane Irma here in Orlando. Hoping that power outages won't last long. Worried about my tank and how to keep flow going in it if we do lose power. Guess scooping up water and pouring it back in the tank will be my best option. For all in the path of Irma...stay safe

pump water volume for my chiller

I'm running a chiller on my Red Sea Max tank. The chiller works fine but takes about 20 minutes to cool the temp down from 80F to 78F. The specs on the chiller call for a pump volume from 50 to 260gpm. I'm using an adjustable pump that ranges from 60 to 211gpm. I have it running at the maximum...

    This doesn't look good

I have had this green algae growing over my coralline on the back glass. I had some snails taking care of it but every time they fell off the glass, my emerald crab or serpent star made short work of them. Today I noticed and even bigger problem on the bottom part of the glass. It looks like...

    birds nest looking sad

I've had a birds nest coral for about 4 months. Looks very healthy. Very green. Lately the branches have started to look a little bare. Nothing has changed so far as water chemistry and lighting. alk is 9.2..cal is 420 no nitrates. mag is a little low at 1100. Could this be the problem?

    Alk question

I know water stability is key to a successful reef. My tank has been doing great for about 6 months now. Corals have been growing like crazy. I test weekly for calcium, alk, mag, and all seem stable. Just wondering how much of a swing in alk is acceptable. After WC my alk is 9.9 dkh...One week...

    Baby snails???

Lately, I've seen these tiny small white creatures on my glass. They appear to be round and white and have little feelers like snails do. I do have Astrea snails in my tank. Are these baby snails or something else? I would take a picture but they are way too tiny.

Should I just put him out of his misery

Well, got home today from work only to find my GBT laying on the sandbed, mouth wide open and shriveled up. These things just don't like me. Guess I'm done with bubble tips for a while

Should I just put him out of his misery

The tank is a little over a year old. I have had a few issues with algae early on but most posts have been about BT's. This is my 3rd one. I think it will be last as well.

Should I just put him out of his misery

I started a thread earlier about my green bubble tip not doing too well. He moved around to the back of my tank and has been looking worse by the day. The other night I was able to gently get him off the rock in the back of the tank and move him to the front where he could get some more light...

    no luck with bubble tips

Can't move the rock it's on. There are a couple of rocks above it with lots of zoas on them. Guess I'll just wait and see what it wants to do.

    no luck with bubble tips

It is getting light but not full light. It seemed to flourish when t was on top of the rocks receiving full light. I know they move to get the best lighting and flow. It also some flow where it is because I can see it moving in the water. Last week I fed it some mysis shrimp and it took it. Could...

    no luck with bubble tips

Hello Sniperhank. Seems like one day it was up on top of my rock work and the next day it had moved to the back. Don't recall any changes to the tank or water conditions. Same lighting, same salt mix...really a mystery to me. should I try to move it or just leave it and see what happens?

    no luck with bubble tips

I bought this GBT about 3 months ago. He was doing great until 2 weeks ago when he moved around the back of some rocks and seems to not inflate much anymore. He's firmly attached to rock so I can't move him. Nothing has changed in my tank since I purchased him. My water parameters have been very...

ordered my Red sea max c-130

Hello Autumnsky. First off. the chiller is an AquaEuroUSA MC series 1/13th HP model. Yes..the pumps are the cause of the extra heat in the tank. I read several posts from 130 owners saying that the skimmer pump ran hot and was a known cause. I contacted Red Sea and they sent me a new pump but...

ordered my Red sea max c-130

Hello Autumnsky. Pros about the 130. I really like the sump hidden behind the back glass. Everything is easy to access. The one I purchased was the black model which I think looks a lot nicer than white (imo). Cons...the skimmer works great..when it works..Takes a lot to get it tuned. BIGGEST...

ordered my Red sea max c-130

Hello Autumnsky. Wow..forgot I wrote that. It's been 1 year since I started my C-130. My tank is looking great and all fish and corals are doing fine as well. The only upgrade I did along the way was to replace the stock lighting with Orbit marine pro LED lighting. I took the stock skimmer...

    Blank canvas

Set up my rocks over the weekend. Used half new salt water and half water change water from my 34 gallon tank. Through in a few pieces of coral that didn't seem to be doing anything in my big tank. See what they can do here.

    Blank canvas

So, I have a 4 day weekend this week so I decided to turn a 10 gallon tank I had sitting around into a salt set up. Getting some live sand today and already have some dry rock left over from my 35 gallon reef tank. Will post my progress.
