what do I have going on here

Looks like Cyanobacteria. Means there's too many nutrients in The tank and/or not enough flow. How bigs the tank? What's the stock? How much and how often do you feed? How much flow do you have? What are the water parameters? Need more info to help you.

    Update of Beengirl's 55g reef

Yeah, pistols are pretty cool, but he does try to drag any coral that's on the sand into his burrow. Even some that i thought would be too big for him to pull. They're SO strong. He's taken at Least one small frag of zoos and now the sun coal. I've had to pull my acan out of there too. What a...

    Update of Beengirl's 55g reef

So I think my pistol has finally managed to drag the sun coral into his burrow. I've found it stuck in the opening of the burrow a couple of times and had to pull it out and put it back in its place. But now it's totally gone and I can't find it. :/ I think he's used it to decorate inside his...

How much and how many times a day should i feed my new Niger Trigger

Brine are pretty small and don't have all that much nutritional value. I would try some PE mysis and feed once a day. They have more meat and nutritional value to them and should keep your fish full longer. Alternate foods on different days. It's not great to fee the same thing all the time...

Pop Quix - Blennies and Gobies

I love my starry blenny! Lots of personality. Mines in a reef tank and he has been great. I haven't had a sleeper headed goby, but I've heard they can sand sift a lot, which can get all over the corals and cause problems. I have a yellow watchman goby/pistil shrimp pair in my reef, and he's...

    Have the nitrogen cycle faster

Slow and steady is best in SW. I know that sucks to hear. Add a piece of raw shrimp or raw fish and let it rot. It'll probably take 4-6 weeks to cycle properly. If you add fish before the cycle is done, it'll be a lot more work for you with many pwcs and loss of fish. I've been there and know...

    1 month old clownfish??

When my clown was really tiny, the only thing he really ate was the frozen cyclopeeze. They're quite small.

    Conch

Yep, they can say buried in one place for a while. He's probably eating stuff in the sand and doesn't need to move around a lot. When that spot runs out of food and he gets hungry, he'll move.

    had surgery today

Yeah, I'm a nurse and access ports fairly regularly, so I've seen the needles first hand. They are quite large. And they have to go in kinda slow so as not to rupture the port, so I'm sure it's quite painful.

    had surgery today

How are you doing? Did you have any more chemo? And if so, did it go any better? If you have decided not to do any more chemo, then maybe consider hospice. My brother had hospice and he was kept quite comfortable.

My cleane shrimp has strange black gunk on him.

I remember someone posting a pic similar to that with their cleaner shrimp a whole back. Tried to find it but couldn't. It ended up being some kind of infection and their shrimp died. Hopefully yours fairs better. Good luck!!

    Beengirl's 30g FOWLR starts!!

Got 2 PJ cardinals. They're hanging together. :) the chromis is getting kinda spazzy since I added them, so I'm hoping he doesn't pick on them or he'll have to go in the qt. And that'll be a pain to catch him. The chalk bass is kinda starting drift their way, so maybe they'll be his new buddies.

    Beengirl's 30g FOWLR starts!!

Not really. He seemed fine, acted normal, and 4 hours later noticed he was dead. Everyone else is good, thankfully. :)

My orange striped cardinal died. :( The poor chalk bass looks a little lost without his friend.

    Bristle Worms

Bristle worms are fine, they just help keep the tank clean. As long as you don't have lots of them, there shouldn't be a problem. If you have a lot, then there's too much food available.

    Beengirl's 30g FOWLR starts!!

Thanks! No, I don't have video of either of my tanks. I so dumb with tech, I wouldn't even know how to put it on you tube. Haha

    Beengirl's 30g FOWLR starts!!

I do know that there shouldn't be more than 1 bass in a tank, but since he's the only bass, it's fine. I remember that Jack or Grant said they used to have one in their tank and they said theirs was peaceful. They didn't have it anymore, I think it died or something. But when I was thinking of...

    Beengirl's 30g FOWLR starts!!

Not at all, at least not mine. Home hangs out with the orange striped cardinal all day. And he sleeps under a rock overhang at night. He's been an ideal tank mate from day one. Here's a pic:

Thanks! Love my jawfish. She's funny to watch. :) 1 of each: Jawfish Firefish Half black angel Chalk bass Orange striped cardinal Occelaris clown Honey red chromis Many people will say I'm overstocked, but everyone gets along great, no fighting. And I'm good about PWCs and have an ac70 and...

Ok so I'm not happy. Looks like the scallop is not gonna make it. :( Saw my cleaner shrimp reaching into the shell and eating bits of it. Not sure if the hermits got to it or what, but the shell is closed and I can see that half of it is gone inside. No more scallops for me, ever. The rest of...
