The center brace on my 37g is broken.

I'll have to check into that option. I was told that the trim couldn't be replaced but it was a semi-trained employee of a chain store that told me that and I'm not sure how reliable that advice was. I may have to go to a lfs and see what they say.

The center brace on my 37g is broken.

This is a picture of the brace as things are right now. I guess this will teach my cousin not to bring his three year old over. The kid wanted to "swim with the fishies" so he tried to climb into the tank! He might have broken the brace but it was almost worth it. I laughed so hard I cried. FYI...

The center brace on my 37g is broken.

The center brace on my 37g tank is broken. I was told that there was no way to replace it without replacing my tank. Since I'm not made of money, I'm trying to figure out a way to patch it. Any thoughts or suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks.

    Skoolz of Fish

FW although, given our sodium levels in King William, it ought to be SW.

Sure. Options are good. Any names you can provide would be great.

    Skoolz of Fish

Has anyone been to Skoolz of Fish in Richmond? It's a bit of a drive for me (full size trucks don't play well in city traffic) but I'm considering checking it out. Any reviews would be helpful.

Aquabid? Never heard of it. I'll check it out. Thanks.

    first chiclid tank

Unfortunately, when it comes it my area, it's Petsmart or a 45 min. trip elsewhere and I can't afford the extra gas expenses.

Let's stick with new world...or what's available at Petsmart anyway.

    first chiclid tank

Sharkbait54, nice photos of a really pretty fish. Is it yours? How large does it get and how difficult would caring for it be to a beginner like me? I don't want to kill fish through inexperience.

What about tank mates for them? Just two fish seems awfully low.

Thanks. I think this color and size is supposed to mimic a riverbed, but the deciding factor when I bought it was cost.

I'm starting to put my gravel back in. I was going to buy new gravel, but it's no longer in the budget.

    advice

I have a 37g tank and I'm thinking of doing live plants this time around. I've never done live plants before, so suggestions and advice are welcome.

Dang it! I broke something again. This time it's one of connector clips for my Magnum filter.

I actually have a 37g but I stock it like a 29g to avoid overloading.

I misspelled the word. How embarrassing. It's cichlid.

    first chiclid tank

I'm looking to set up a 29g tank with chiclids. I've had a few tanks with tetras and the like and I think I'm ready for chiclids. Can anyone suggest a stocking scheme for a beginner? Also, our local water supply (well water) has a very high sodium content. I'm not sure if that would impact...

My tank is empty so now is a good time to think about this. After talking with several local hobbyists I'm pretty sure I will go with some variety of dwarf chiclid. They tolerate the high sodium levels present in our local well water better than some other types of fish. Since they seem to...

Don't feel bad. I did that the first time around. With this hobby, there is definitely a learning curve.

Using a python to empty the tank after the successful leak test. It actually works!

    Fitting change

Thanks for the advice. I had to use a pipe wrench but it wasn't difficult at all. I've included a picture of the python while hooked up and operating.
