Instead of a salt bath I would just add salt directly in to his tank during a water change (dissolve the salt with new water in a cup first ) then add during the fresh water.. Much less stressful then a salt bath.. As for precautionary medication I personally always have Kanaplex on hand and...

I think you are ok to keep him. However I would not add another big fish of its kind tho- as long as your water parameters are good and you are diligent with maintenance I don't see any reason to have to rehome him . Sent from my iPhone using Aquarium Advice
