Yeah, I get it. I liked my guys when they were being nice, but I couldn't stand them terrorizing the other fish. Oh well, now to decide what to replace them with.

Maybe you should get a breeder trap and stick him in it when he gets to naughty. As we say in kindergarten, "Thinking net for you buster! "

My green lantern platys did the same. When there were other fish to pick on, the 2 ganged up on them. When they were by themselves, the big one picked on the smaller one. Took them back yesterday. Just to mean for me.

Well, I have took the platys back today. They were just too bratty. My neons and otos look much more relaxed now. Not sure what else I'm going to add to the tank, but at least I don't have to worry about acts of terror happening in my little eco-system.

Just be wary of the male platys. I just had to take my 2 back to the lfs because they were terrorizing the other fish and eating all the food. :-( Little bullies!

I just got the neons and Oscars yesterday, so I think they'll be ok today. I'm going to try and find time to run to the lfs today. I noticed this morning when I turned on the lights that the platys were picking on the Oscars. Can't stand the bullying, so they're gone.

I love puffers. Don't have one.... Yet, but that's the plan for my next tank. Of my current stock, I'd have to say my crown tail betta. We've been through a lot together.

I think some fish, just like people, can be jerks. I've got a platy like that too. He picked on my poor betta to the point I had to move the betta. Now he chases the other platy around. I'm contemplating re-homing the little creep.

Thanks everyone for all the great advice! I am pretty much doing daily pwc and wondered if that would have an effect. I'll retest my tap and see if I get the same after letting it sit. I guess I won't worry too much until my cycle is done as the platies seem pretty happy. I wanted driftwood...

Just wanted to update on Brock the betta. After moving him back to the 1 gallon, he's made a remarkable comeback! He went from laying on his side and showing no interest in food, to eating anything he can get his lips on and flaring at anything that walks by. The ich spot on his head is gone...

I changed it today to get rid of the ammonia. My tap water tests at the same 8.2 as the tank. I'm using a water conditioner with each pwc, not prime, but I plan to get some of that once this stuff is gone.

Yup, mine too. Poop machines! It really shows up on my black sand. I looked in the other day and one had a poop so long it was attached to the filter sponge like an anchor! The little guy was just swimming there until he finally dropped it. So gross, but so funny!

I'm new to the aquarium game, but I do have a suggestion for the filter. My betta was terribly unhappy with the current in my 15 gallon, so I got a pre-filter sponge thing to put on the intake and used a solo cup slit down the middle with the bottom cut off to slow the flow from the outlet.
