they aren't the moss. They are black round plastic balls that are to do what u said but these are suppose to float freely around the top of your tank.

we lost our heat for 2 nights and our water temp went from 80 to 60 over night . They seem to be ok but it has increased the algea in our tank alot. would it be ok to clean the tank or will it stress our fish out too much since the water temp is still down?
