20 Gallon Tall Reef Tank Started!

Hi Guys! Just started up my 20 gallon Tall reef tank on Saturday. I'm going to be transferring over my LTA and Occ. Clown in March from the 29g I'm taking care of right now. Params: PH~7.9 Alkalinity~7dKH Ammonia~.1ppm Nitrite~0ppm Nitrate~10ppm (Using OceanMaster Test Kit) I used Live Sand...

Re-homing/transfering my clown & anemone to a 20g, need help with tank start up.

Thanks for that! I don't want to use any of the old sand cause it's white and the sand I'm using is black. But I'll definitely do that with the rock.

Re-homing/transfering my clown & anemone to a 20g, need help with tank start up.

I'm giving the tank back with other fish and inverts in it, so the sand and most of the rock has to stay.

Re-homing/transfering my clown & anemone to a 20g, need help with tank start up.

Hey Everyone! So I'm in need of advice. Right now I have a 29 gallon FOWLR that's been established for over 2 years, I've been taking care of it for 6 months. The tank's most recent addition is a Long Tentacle Anemone I bought about 1.5 months ago. I need to re-home/transfer my clown and LTA...

    Tom's 55G Saltwater

From what I''ve read you want a total GPH 20 to 30 times that of the size of your tank. So for a 30g including power filters and power heads you want 600+gph As for placement it depends on what corals you have because they may require different amounts of flow. I would have an area of high flow...

    Tom's 55G Saltwater

oh snap, that sucks. That's is a possibility. If you were battling ich it probably would have been best to try and not change the tank environment for a good while. I've never experienced ich but that's just based on what others have said.

    Saltwater Newbie looking for advice

Congrats! Make sure to not buy your first fish until your tank is FULLY cycled. A lot of people when they start a tank. They start a build thread, you can do that and upload pics and people can give you advice as you go along. Good luck!

    Saltwater Newbie looking for advice

Remember you will only be able to have a total of about 5-6 fish (Assuming each one's grown size is 3" and are active swimmers). So choose wisely. But yeah if you want a firefish I would recommend it being the 1st one into the tank. They can by shy and skittish at first. And after that try...

Just because you can fit more fish without your parameters going crazy doesn't mean you should. Fish need their space, just because they are surviving doesn't mean it's the best condition for them. I would recommend trying to stay close to LA minimum requirements as well as the following inch...

20g reef and I need guidance

I don't have any corals but from what I've read on these forums and the web. No SPS: SPS Corals: Hard Coral and Stony Corals for the Aquarium Mushrooms, soft corals, and polyps are generally great for beginners. Look through LA and filter them by "easy" care, "Moderate" Lighting, "Medium" Flow...

@AquaRick Why does feeding an Anemone cause it stress?? never heard of that before. And they eat actual little critters in the wild in addition to the food it gets from photosynthesis. 20g reef and I need guidance

Truth. I been thinking the same. You want your tank to have a total GPH 20-30 times the size of your tank for a reef. So 200gph filter + 250gph would give you a little over 20+ times. though there will likely be some loss so you might end up a little under. If you did two 250's which is my...
