    Elephant nose escape

Picked up a new 5" elephant nose for my 55 gal yesterday. Put him in the empty (except for plants) 10 gal quarantine tank. All is well... Go to check on him an hour later and he has jumped. The only opening is where the hob goes in. He went up and over the filter. He was dry, stiff and...

    Dragon gobie update

Well, they went and did it. The Dragons went and spawned on me but unfortunately the 6 fry didn't make it. Seems lowering the temp in the tank and the introduction of the blood worms triggered the spawning. Now I'm going to have to set up another tank and try it on purpose.... A question on...

Best canister filter for 65gal fw

Our local petsmart has the Proquatics 160 on cleareance for 34.99 and the 240 for 47.00. These are usually $130 and $170. I won't buy fish from them again but I could pass these up.

Can you help me ID this fish?

Dragon fish = Violet Goby Brackish water but will survive in pure fw for a while. Not aggressive, filter feeders/scavengers. I've had some for years. http://sunflower.bio.indiana.edu/~sholtzma/fish.html An update on mine - definitely spawning.

    Violet Gobies changed behavior

They have always swam around the tank but not with just their eyes out of the water and they have been rearranging the rocks and plants - not just sifting for food. The tank is slightly brackish but not full as I want to support the other fish. The balas and tinfoil barbs will be just fine...

    Violet Gobies changed behavior

Hmmm.... 55 gallon tank stocked with 4 small (< 3 inch) tinfoil barbs, 3 4" balas, 1 large common pleco (12" plus) - temporary until it can go back outside in the pond- and 2 medium sized Violet gobies. ammonia, nitrate and nitrites well within limits (don't have the numbers here with me at...

8'x8' Above Ground Pond in Austin, TX (I'm a Beginner)...

works fine in austin Sorry this is so late but I just joined the forums. I've had that exact setup running here in Austin (o.k. - Anderson Mill) for over 3 years and have had great luck. I've got 2 koi, some goldfish, a violet gobie and a common Pleco in it. The only thing I've had to do for...
