Like mgamer said, I'm in Chandler right off of the 202/Cooper interchange. I don't have any more room in the house since the addition of 3 kids in the last few years so I had to tear down the tanks.

    What Kind of Salt?

F8's do best in a low brackish setup with a SG around 1.005 and the GSP does best with a SG above 1.015. People often keep their GSPs around 1.020 so they can use a protein skimmer and live rock. The 2 species of puffers are really not compatible since the GSP needs at least 30 gallons and a...

green spotted puffer in a 10g tank?

Provided the tank is rather large you may be able to house monos and t. nigroviridis or t. fluviatilis together. You would just need to have a backup plan in case the puffer starts harassing the monos.I have a T. nigroviridis in an 80 gallon tank and he is the only fish in it. I have not tried...

Stocking ideas for my brackish tank

Figure 8 puffers require at least 15 gallons and the GSP requires at least 30 gallons so both of those would be out of the question. Dwarf puffers are a FW species and will not fare well in a BW setup. a BB goby might be an option but I have no idea how it would do with a crab. Another option...

Where to get Glofish in Phoenix Area?

I have seen them on a couple of occasions at Pets Inc. in Tempe, although that was sometime ago. Another place to try might be Ocean Floor in Phoenix. I would definitely call first though

    Green Spotted Puffers

Thats why I said I might, not will, get a clownfish. It will depend on how much LR I purchase and how well lines of sight are broken up. If it doesn't work out I will put the clown(s) in the 50 which is going to be used as a sump/refugium.

    Green Spotted Puffers

I currently have one by himself in a 50 gallon tank but in 6 months he will be moving to my 80 gallon tank.Once he is in the 80 I MAY try to get 1 or 2 clown fish after I add some LR to the tank.Otherwise he will be the sole inhabitant of the 80 as well.I saw some full size GSPs in a store and...

    help! my puffer died!

Puffers in general do not make suitable tankmates for a community aquarium. The only commonly available one that would stay small enough to stay in a 10 gallon is a dwarf puffer. The other commonly available puffers need larger tanks and in the case of figure-8s and green spotted puffers, need a...

    Bringing home brackish

Aquarium salt/ pond salt is completely different then the salt needed to create a brackish environment. You need to use marine salt mix. The drip method is the best way to acclimate a fish to a different salinity

FW to BW to SW for GSP

Thats what I did with my GSP tank. It helped to maintain the ph around 8.0. Also there is no need to change the substrate later. I would also be careful about adding wood to it since I hear that it can lower the ph of the tank.

My leopard puffer changes color from a very dark color. .

It could just be normal while he acclimates to his new surroundings but if you can answer a few questions we might be able to determine if there is something else wrong. What size tank is he in and what other tankmates? Is the tank cycled and what are the water parameters? Is he in a freshwater...

    Figure Eight Puffer

A figure 8 puffer need a minimum of 15 gallons and generally speaking puffers are best kept as singletons or as a species only tank. Another thing about the F8 puffers is they really do best as a brackish water fish (SG~1.005-1.008) and tetras and other FW fish will not fare well in a BW setup.

help, theres something wrong with my puffer

Have you tested for ammonia, nitrite and nitrate? I have never used melafix so not sure how well that would treat the tail.I wouldn't add any salt to the tank while the other fish are in it.When you do start adding salt make sure you don't raise the SG more then .002/week. The F8 would be fine...

help, theres something wrong with my puffer

You need to use marine salt for the brackish tank, not aquarium salt. Neither the cory or the cae will survive in the BW setup. Just to confirm it is a F8 though does it look like this? http://www.thepufferforum.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=549

help, theres something wrong with my puffer

What are your water parameters? Puffers tend to be more sensitive to nitrates then many other species, Also if you do have a F8 puffer they do best in a low brackish setup(SG around 1.005-1.008).

    Staring Brackish Tank

The F8 will do good in a 20 but the green spotted needs at least 30 gallons.
