    Dwarf Angel advice

I have a bicolor angel in my fowler (220 gallon) and he is the biggest pest on the tank. He nips my lionfish and angler fish. If I thought I could catch him, I would.

    Cadd’s First Community Tank

In remember having the same penguin filter on my freshwater chiclid tank in the 90s when I was a teenager. I now have a marineland 350 (still a penguin) on my saltwater QT tank. It has 2 biowheels but the design hasn't changed. If it was a gimmick then it wouldn't still be around after all these...

Reef Octopus XS 200 skimmer dumping microbubbles

Do you find it too loud being above the water level? Do you still use the skimmer?

Reef Octopus XS 200 skimmer dumping microbubbles

I'll try that with the elbow under the water first. Thanks for the tip

Reef Octopus XS 200 skimmer dumping microbubbles

Oh, good idea. Does it get clogged up over time? And you have the elbow under the water?

Reef Octopus XS 200 skimmer dumping microbubbles

So my new 210 Aqueon has been running for about a week and a half, and I am having a battle with microbubbles. I upgraded to the 210 from a 150. I bought a Reef Octopus XS 200 4 years ago when I upgraded to the 150. Since then, I have always noticed that the skimmer puts out some...

Are microbubbles normal in a new tank?

It's not the ones on the glass, it's the ones floating in the water

How long did it last for? Today looked better than yesterday.

Are microbubbles normal in a new tank?

So I just set up my new 210 tank. New 225 Gallon Build | REEF2REEF Saltwater and Reef Aquarium Forum It's been up and running for about about 5 days now. The fish seem to be doing well and my water parameters are good, but I keep getting micro-bubbles which is getting frustrating. Now, I...

Will a snowflake eel eat my fish??

I did a tank transfer over the weekend and due to the stress I lost my beloved dwarf golden moray. I had him for 4+ years. When I got him, I had a 75 gallon so I didn't want to get a full size eel. I've since moved up to a 150, and now to a 225. Now that he is gone I need to have another...

    Bubbles from return/siphon break

So I just got my 225 up and running yesterday. After I turned the lights on, I could see that there were bubbles all over the place. The bubbles were coming out of the left side return. I know that it has something to do with the siphon break, because I can hear a sort of...

Does anyone have an Aqueon stand?

I just ordered a 225 gallon reef ready tank and stand. Does anyone have the Aqueon stand? I assume it is strong enough to support the tank it is made for. What are the internal dimensions? It says it is 28" tall, but how high is it from the "floor" of the stand to the bottom of the center...

Do I need to cure clean dry rock

So in the near future I am upgrading my 150 fowler to a 225. Years ago when I bought a complete set-up, the guy gave me 3 Rubbermaid bins of "live" rock. I used alot of it in my 150, I gave some to friends (no regrets, lol), and the rest has been in my attic. Yesterday, I pulled the rest out...

Recommended LED for a 72" fowler

Do they have timers or is the timer separate? Can you do realistic sunrise and sunset?

Recommended LED for a 72" fowler

I'm planning on upgrading to a 72" 225 tank. I currently have a 60" 150. I have an Advanced Marineland 48" with the integrated timer. I really like the light. It is plenty bright enough and I love the timer with the separate settings for the white and blue LEDs. The problem is, I don't...

    Does modern acrylic turn yellow

Do modern acrylics turn yellow? I know that back in the day acrylic aquariums turned yellow from UV exposure. Do modern acrylics turn yellow? All the information I have received has been from acrylic manufacturers so I take it with a grain of salt. I am told that was cheap Chinese acrylic back...

    New tank build opinions

I'm planning a new 225 gallon build. With the space and room dimensions I am going with a 72x24x30. I currently have a 150 gallon. Not to start a glass vs acrylic debate (I have an acrylic now that replaced a 75g glass), but what would you do if it was your new build. I know the pros and cons...

    Kole Tang attacking his reflection

Whatever wounds he had on his nose are gone now. I think the ferocity of the episodes is diminishing. He's still doing it, but it's lessened.

    Kole Tang attacking his reflection

I'm not sure what that means? If the light in the tank is on in a dark room, how do they not see their reflection? My puffer sometimes attacks the glass when I put food in because of the reflection.

    Kole Tang attacking his reflection

I got a Kole Tang about 2 months ago. Besides from a couple misunderstandings with my foxface, he has been a good resident. This week, in the evening, I noticed him tail slapping the glass over and over again. I realized that he is attacking his reflection. If I turn the room lights on he stops...

    New sw fish

As said above, people forget that fish grow. There may be a lot of space now, but as the fish grow they will take up a lot more room. Sent from my XT1585 using Aquarium Advice mobile app

    Two gobies one tank

That's awesome. I have a 150 gallon, and I see crabs and snails that I haven't seen in months. I assume they were eaten by my puffer. It really makes you think how much life there is on the reef. Our tanks are closed systems and we lose things in there. The reef is endless.
