Hey guys got a quick question for ya. Just added a few sea urchins to my tank as a power house to my clean up crew. I was wondering if my 1 foot long carpet anemone would eat them if they managed to bump into it? I'm worried they might meet a horrible fate and maybe even hurt the nem. Thanks!
Thanks bill. He seems to be getting acclimated to the tank now and settling in. He had me nervous for a bit because his mouth was loose but now it seems shut. How long did it take for yours to get settled in?
Hey guys I have a big carpet anemone that I purchased yesterday. It looked pretty good yesterday and this morning. However it has burried it's foot in the sand under a rock. I have read this to be normal however he looks to be almost retracting into the sand? Is this normal behavior? Thx
Searchin I actually just bought a carpet anemone and it looks amazing and is doing well! The situation with the mouth is the same as any other anemone. You car barely see the mouth when my new addition got settled in! I hope to upload pics very soon!
Same here. The past species of nems I have kept you want the mouth to stay closed tight and stay small. But from what pics I have seen on carpets it's looks as if you can always see the mouth and its hard to tell. Some pics the carpets looks as if it doesn't even have a mouth it's so closed...
Also you may want to invest some money into a QT tank of some sorts. This will allow you to keep disease out of your display tank by observing the fish for a weeks before dropping them in. ? Best of luck to you!
I would have to agree with this post. The tang has spots because it is stress due to some poor water conditions and low swimming room. Best bet would prob be to try and get credit for the fish. If you really must have a fish I would suggest getting a damsel of some kind and use that to help...
Hey guys not sure where to really post this but I will try here. I'm doing my research on an electric green carpet anemone. I have always wanted one however don't want to dive into something that I know nothing about. While doing research I have found many pics of carpets that look to have a...
Thanks everyone for all the help! I have been blown away with this forum and how much help I receive from you guys. It just sucks not having a lfs to trust and learn from however you guys def make up for it. Have a great day and happy reefing!
And I have heard that they like to naturally host bubble tips, carpets and long tentacle? Is this correct? I was surprised when they hosted my Haitian but I guess they took to what they had present.
I live in northern Kentucky. I was thinking a carpet as well but was worried because I have heard they are difficult to keep. I'm only looking to have just a nem in the tank. I have a small Haitian anemone in my 75 gallon and the clowns bout killed it hosting it. They were all over the thing...
This is off topic but I do have a question for you guys. Do you know any place to get a good healthy anemone for the future online? All the nems at my lfs don't look very great. They are either floating around the tank or have a mouth that is loose, and semi bleached. I will need a big one when...
Well I'm getting the fixture from a buddy and I'm getting it for 40 bucks. So I'm not paying full retail. I only bought the one because he thought he had someone else buying the other but it fell through. He has given up on reefing because he thinks its to much work.
Would it be possible to run two of these fixtures with ati bulbs? So in all it would be 4x39 watt ati bulbs. I would do the led but the cross beam in the middle of the bow might hold me up.
