    Another algae question... (coralline perhaps?)

Thanks Phyl, I'll just keep an eye on it in the mean time and keep dosing calcium. Thanks for the help folks!

    Another algae question... (coralline perhaps?)

Yes, I do have about 40 lbs. of figi, and 10 lbs. of Keys rock from LR.com I recieved about 1 1/2 months ago. It is forming in small circles. And I have been dosing and testing calcium keeping it around 400-450ppm.

    Another algae question... (coralline perhaps?)

What's up my AA compadre's? It's been a while since I've posted because my tank has been doing pretty good. But some new algae has been developing. It doesn't look like a nuisance algae, but I could be wrong. The characteristics of it remind me more of coralline than anything else. I've...

    Brown discoloration in sand

I think it's Diatoms. Have you checked your Phosphate level? What kind of water do you use, tap or RO/DI? What is your feeding schedule? Type of lighting? Any info would be very helpful. BTW Welcome to AA! :D Good to see a fellow Texan on the board!

Lies.... too funny not to share!

Did you click on the "Lies lies lies" link in the first post? It's funny because there's alot of pet stores that aren't honest with there customers because they want to make a sale. EDIT: Sorry, I didn't see the question was answered already.

    Sand Question

Algae is product of excess nutrients in the water, such as phosphates which can be found in tap water. Are you using RO/DI or tap water? It can also start because of over feeding, old lightbulbs, or a long light cycle. Finding the source of the algae is the best way to rid your tank of it...

    coral banded shrimp questions

These guys are really hit or miss, as you can see from the above posts. I had a problem with mine as well though. He didn't kill anything that I know of, but did steal food from my tube anemone.

    Who is this guy?

    Sea slug maybe?

    coralife aqualights

I'm happy with mine too. But I will back up oyf709 about the whole algae problem when the light gets old problem, it happened to me.

    Coral behaving oddly, help!

I'll agree with the above posts. All my inverts were quite upset when I added my new sand, until the tank cleared, then they were fine.

    my bubble tip anemone

I hand feed mine with Silversides. It snatches it up pretty quickly.

    Sea Squirt outbreak?

    Anybody out there?

Is it time for a Mandrin

That's really tough to say, they're really finickie (sp?) eaters. Do you know if they're captive bread? I've heard of captive bread Mandarin's eating brine in addition to pods. You might be ok in that case.

    Sea Squirt outbreak?

Thanks Fluff! I did get an order recently from lr.com, but all these are growing on the old fiji lr that has been in my tank for the last year. Can they lay in some sort of dormant state and then suddenly start growing, or did one find it's way in on the new lr and just reproduce really fast...

    Sea Squirt outbreak?

Hey everyone, just recently I have noticed a sort of "outbreak" of Sea Squirts in my tank. I haven't been able to count, but if I had to guess I'd say there's anywhere between 5-10. They range in size between a 1/4-1 inch. They're clear in color and sort of striped at the tips of the...
