Anyone else used purple tech/purple up with any results?

I've not got anything in my tank that's eating it as the spots that are there have been there ages. Also I know it takes a while to grow but after 17mths I was expecting to see much more growth.

Hey guys I have smallish patches of coralline algae on 3 peices of my live rock and the tank has been set up for over a year now with no probs what so ever. I've tried scrapping the algae to spread it but I can't seem to get it to take. All prams are good do 20% weekly water changes, any help on...

I would say the damsel will have to go. Sometimes they will tolerate tank mates but if they don't like another fish it will normally attack it till the inevitable happens.

Yeah I notice when I feed my tank some of the smaller fish tend to eat/chew something up, spit it out then re-eat the smaller pieces they have just broken up. Also I try to feed live or frozen food rather then pellets, as they tend to have to many phosphates in them.

I worked out what weight worked for my needs on little kitchen baking scales, just a little trial and error till I got the right mixture. Now I know the exact weight of salt I need to add to every gallon of water I'm making up.

IMO if your cycling the tank just give it a quick rinse off first to get rid of any dust or crap on it save it going in the tank. Then just put it in and cycle like normal.

Yeah a good friend of mine had one and sadly let air get to him when moving from q tank to display tank. It showed bad signs quickly and started to break up. During the one evening the Cuc and fish all but completely made him vanish.

Try and place it between 2 rocks where the flow isn't as powerful, hopefully then it find it's own place it likes in the tank. Mine took almost 1 month till it found its happy place, which was at the bottom and kinda dug its foot into the sand/side of the rock.

My friend and I had a discussion about amount and frequency of feeding seaweed. I'm just after your input on how much seaweed & how often you would feed it a tank in which a fox-face and regal tang are the only fish that seem interested in eating the stuff. Thanks.

I agree It was prob clown on clown attack as they were introduced at separate times, but I would also remove the damsels as they are a pain in the but when it comes to adding fish later on. IMO they always become very aggressive and will cause problems later down the line.

I guess you could use a normal glass bottom and then attach the mirror to the glass, so it seems that the bottom is a mirror.

Is it ok to leave shrimp molts in the tank or should they be removed ASAP. The reason I asked is normally I remove them, but last night I forgot to remove one. I wake us this morning and it's all but vanished. Does the clean up crew eat them, and do they add to nitrates if left in?

Yeah most people keep premixed water stored in bins/trash cans etc,this makes it easier for quick top offs and most importantly time.

What kind of water did you use was it rodi, tap, straight out of a well? Also did you manage to disturb the sand whilst doing the change?

I only feed mine during lights on as most my fish kinda hide / go inactive when lights are off.

My tank has been running now for over 12mths and everything is going good. Over the last month I've noticed a few new feather dusters have just sprung up from now where. Is this is good or bad sign?

IMO get rid of the damsel, mine was ok for about 3 months, as soon as I added any other fish he hassled them. Now my tank is damsel free my other 8 fish live totally peacefully together.

I have one, I believe most call it a silver belly wrasse. Mine will swim around all day with no problems, then about 5 mins after lights out he hides under the sand & beds down for the night. Then as if he wearing a watch at 8am hes back out swimming.

Once I got my foxface he would hide ASAP as soon as anyone got near the tank. Now after having him for almost a year he only hides at night to rest & even feeds seaweed out of my hand at the top of the tank.
