    goldfish and ottos

No algae problem, simply like them as a form of cleaner.

    goldfish and ottos

I'm looking at algea eating fish and would love some ottos. My only concern is, would they get eaten by my fancies?

    Brand New 29 Gallon Upgrade!!

With the gravel, you can add it a handful at a time, as long as you don't mind getting your hand wet. As you can place it on gently on the surface and spread out as desired. I'd envy you that job by the way.

Looking good! Have you got any more plans for the new tank?

    Bristlenose Plecostomus Profile

Catching any creature in a net can be harmful, with or without spikey bits. If it's possible to remove a fish using a jug or you know how to hold one properly then that is always going to be a better option.

    lionhead attacking moor

We have pound shops. They should have something. Fish have now been swapped round so they can stay that way till tomorrow.

    lionhead attacking moor

Jlk, thank you for that! It might be due to old inground stereotypes but I never thought about training them! That's really cool. Unfortunately my colander is metal but I should be able to fashion something out of a tub.

    lionhead attacking moor

Of course. I've just been panicking a little and didn't think. My lionhead is 1.5inches and my black moor is 1 inch. These are approximate and not including tail. (i did say they were young :-) ) I've owned them for just over a week. They live in a 135L tank with 3 snails. Temperature is about...

    lionhead attacking moor

Any suggestions what I can to find out why my lionhead became so much of a bully?

    lionhead attacking moor

I got up this morning to find my lionhead basically attached to my moor's flank, he was following so close. When moor stopped, my lionhead was trying to pin him and nipping around eyes and around anal fins. It was so distressing to watch that I removed the moor and put him in my dinky tank...

    Tankmates for FG

If you knew what you were talking about you'd know a comodo dragon isn't full of disease, it's venum. Just as the protruding eyes on goldfish is not disease, it's inbreeding.

    Tankmates for FG

I think you may be misinterpreting what you read. It is not a disease in the traditional sense, it is simple genetics caused by selection breeding. Here are some websites to back this up: http://nookipedia.com/wiki/Popeyed_goldfish (near bottom of page) ----...

    Tankmates for FG

Those goldfish that have "puffy eyes" are due to being bred that way, not due to constant infection. Also, not all small fish nip. I'm simply asking for small fish with a peaceful disposition, like the minnows (which I know are fine) to make the tank a little more interesting.

    mystery snails

Thank you! Just googled that and they're bumblebee nerites.

    mystery snails

I have 3 snails that don't seem to be as described at my lfs. I tried double checking at a separate shop which had a different name but neither of them are right from googling. They're still young, <1inch, yellow and black striped with four spikes. I haven't figured out how to add pictures...

    Tankmates for FG

Through the constant contradictions, the one consistent rule of thumb is 20G for first goldie and 10G for each additional. That's why I thought I might have room for a couple of small fish.

    Tankmates for FG

Aw. I thought my twice weekly pwc would allow me to have something like a 6 fish shoal of small fish like minnows, without it being to much of a problem...?

    Tankmates for FG

135L That's not the problem. I just want suggestions of suitable tankmates.
