I doubt it's a tiger if it was 3.99, it sounds more like a clown pleco which does look similar. Both only grow 4" long. I spent 30$ on my tiger and now my LFS got some clowns in that look really really similar to my tiger but they are only 4.99

Try going to your LFS and explaining your situation, maybe they can temporarily watch over your fish for you untill your family can get everything back to normal.

That webiste has some fish that I haven't seen, but their selection is pretty small. And they label a pleco as false zebra, when I'm pretty sure that's just a queen arabesque (sp?). And the other one they call "pretty pleco", I don't think I have heard of any pleco just called pretty pleco...

Well then I would be diluting the medication and making it less effective. They are large tablets that fizzle into the water so I can't add a partial dose into the new water.

L183 is a very nice looking plec. I have one that is a little over 1" and i love how he looks, plus he was a lot cheaper than my gold nugget (cost 13$ instead of 25$). And they stay under 4", check planetcatfish for pictures.

Your water change is a little low. Most recomend around 30% every week. Also when you change the filter pad and keeping the frame you don't mean you are throwing the whole white pad away right? That is what the bacteria grows on and if you throw it away it's almost like starting the cycle...

I wouldn't be so sure about the water no instantly killing the fish. Before I knew I had to treat the water, I filled my gf's tank back up with like 6 gallons of untreated water. Within a minute or 2 all but 2 fish were floating upside down and died.

I recently bought a gravel vac and it has a ball valve in it at the top of the large tube. This allows you to just shake it left and right at an angle untill the water begins to syphon itself and you start vaccuuming.
