    Being a new tank , Diatoms are more likely ? Until the silicates are gone the diatoms have what they consume. They shouldn't last long it's probably better just to leave it and let nature do it's thing .

    I've read a lot of both good and bad about LEDs . I still prefer T5's or MH It's the shimmer on the bottom I don't like from LEDs . The initial cost is a little expensive but considering each T5 bulb is from $25-$40 each every 6-8 months . LEDs could be more worth it in the end .
