Thanks guys! I got the fluval 205 running, my light cut down. (It's a full spectrum). The white fuzz is completely gone after medicating, and water change. I did loose. A platy, but I had him going on 2 years, so I'm not sure if it was disease related.

I've never had a problem before. But a friend of mine got a fish this past week as well, and it happened to him too. :/

I do a 50% water change every three weeks, with a random 3-5gal water change when the brown algae gets bad. I'm also looking at RO units to remedy that problem. Lol

Also, planted (obviously). Not sure how much that helps filtration. Lol

I have a 20gal tank. I'm using a fluval 20. I'm getting a 50 gal at the end of the month, with a fluval 205. But I don't want to contaminate the new tank. As for fish:

Yea, its had fish for the year, the bacteria were from a bottle.

Hi, thanks for the reply. :) i've had the tank up and running for about a year. I ran the filter, and added bacteria for a couple days. I made the mistake of adding the new fish WITH the water from the bag...

I got two mollies at petsmart, and two days later... I have this minus two fish.. :( please help!

For this tank, yes. But I got my eye on a 55gal. I want to learn the most I can before making the jump. Probably in 4-5 months.

Back to the store it goes then. The hood light was just a 20 inch from walmart. I'm not really sure on the specs. I didn't know how much II didn't know until I knew. Lol. I think I got the aquarium bug, i'm already looking at upgrading to a bigger setup... Lol Would that setup be ok until then?

I mostly liked it for the "night" feature to help provide a better day/night rhythm while still being able to watch them. I wouldn't mind using the fluorescent tube with the LED. Or am I missing the mark completely? Lol

I have several compacta plants, a moss ball, and some dwarf hairgrass. I have a 20gal tall. I have the original hood light. I rechecked the pkg, and its 550 Lumens. If that makes any difference. Lol

Thanks for the advice! :) Unfortunately, I did rinse out the filter media in tap water... I added bacteria back in, used water conditioner, and ammonia lock. I'll start sorting the snails today. I feed them once every 16-18hrs.

I got a test kit today, the ammonia is 8ppm.... I used ammonia lock on the tank. Anything i'm missing?

There are about 100+ snails in the tank. All are pea size and smaller. I can't find them all. Would I be able to balance the ph long enough to let them decompose?

My snails are checking out one by one. I did a 50% water change a week ago, and accidentally started a bacterial bloom. After that, I lost 3 of my four snails, and a massive amount of their offspring. Can anyone help? Should I do maybe a 10% change? The water is starting to smell like dead fish.
