    Spines coming out of driftwood?!

    Just took another look and it seems like whatever this is has been growing all over the wood. It looks like a black spiderweb (pretty freaky!) growing up from the base of the driftwood. Another pic attached. Any advice would be appreciated!

    Really great information, thanks! I've looked online and I don't see a vendor who ships the Chi cover to Canada and my LFS doesn't carry it. Well, Hagen will ship it to me, but it'll cost $20 which is dumb for an $3 item. This might be an odd question, but could i just use plastic cling wrap...

    There are glass filler products available at the hardware store for cars. Maybe you could try that as long as it doesn't get near the tank contents???

    Same thing happened to me with my 5 gallon, but it went away after 2 days. I did the 50% water changes as well.
