Where to find arm length gloves

Got mine at MarineDepot. Bought the green Tunze shoulder length gloves. They are kinda flimsy, but when you stick your arm underwater, they cling to you like nothin' you ever seen before. They are listed as disposable, but I get about 10 - 20 uses per glove. I too like to keep the gunk on my...

New RO/DI system set up and very nice

Bought that same unit and hooked it up Sunday. We have some nasty water out here but the good thing is that we have high pressure. Water pressure is 70 - 72psi. At that high of pressure I initially had 7 leaks. After 3 days of constant assembly/disassembly, and much use of Teflon Tape, I...

You should be smoking; cigars that is! You may have just witnessed reproduction in your tank. Congrats!

    Branching Hammer Coral?

This branching hammer is attacking my cabbage leather. That sweeper is 4" long. Give it at least 6".

They are just fine! The first time I saw my Blue Mandarin at 2am I cried. Thought she was dead. She was just sleeping.

    10W 50/50

I haven't used those bulbs, but, the wattage rating on the bulb is a comparison to standard lighting. So, as far as CF is concerned, you have only 10watts CF. You'll need more light for corals, but if it's FO, you might be ok.

joe's juice - anybody with experience

Over here Peppermint shrimp are $12 and Joe's Juice is $15. Peppermints don't go right after aiptasia and eat it, some have to be trained. Some will take days to find the aiptasia and some will take months. Some will never even touch it! One adult aiptasia can produce up to 50 offspring per...

    Drinking water ok???

I have been using purified water from the local grocery store for both top-offs and water changes. The label says "prepared by Reverse Osmosis" on it. Been doing this for 5 months now and no problems yet! I even tested it for PO4 and it came up zilch! Haven't bought an RO/DI unit cause my water...

    Purple Up or B-Ionic?

Be careful what you wish for. I wish my coraline wouldn't grow so fast or all over the place. I use B-Ionic.

joe's juice - anybody with experience

Joes Juice should work out just fine. If you are trying to kill some aiptasia that are greater than 1" in diameter, then they may shrivel up and not completely die yet. One adult aiptasia can produce about 50 offspring per day. If you are killing off smaller ones then here is a snipet from a...

    My 2 new O.clowns died...

What is your SG at and what do you check it with? Sounds much like an acclimation issue to me. I had aiptasia and my mandarin loved to rub against them while cruising for pods. They never bothered her. I killed a fish once after an acclimation. My swing arm style hydrometer said my SG was at...

    Under feeding, your thoughts??

Not feed more, but feed more of a variety. Your inverts need food too, that's probably why the scavanger hunt went on.

    Molting?

I forget sometimes that I feed mysis twice a week. I'll look into the tank and see this tiny looking molt floating freely, then I realize what it is.

    Coral not open

IMHO you really need to slow down on the additives. Regular water changes (10% weekly or 20%-25% twice a month; preferably 10% weekly), good skimming, and a 2 part supplement of CA and Alk are all you really need. What is the water temp? Day/night?

Which to trust? Refracto or Hydrometer?

It should either come with a test sample or do the calibration with distilled water. You should trust the refractometer vs hydrometer. I had 2 swing arm hydrometers and both were registering .003 - .004 less than my refractometer. Needless to say I was running a 1.0295 SG. All my corals and...

    Reef lighting...

It may be ok for LPS and mushrooms, but not enough light for SPS. If your corals need more light, you can move them higher up in the tank. It should be ok until you save up for a MH for that 75.

    coralin algae dying???

Coraline algae colors depend mostly on the light in your tank. Along with many trace elements and the use of Mg. The less light you have, lower in your tank the LR is, or in a shaded area will produce the dark purple coraline. When you add more light, it gets lighter purple, and then even pink...

    mushroom falling off

My medium sized rock is covered in mushrooms. They cover each other all the time and never move. As malkore said they will relocate if the lighting isn't right. They will definately relocate if they have flow on them. A little flow is fine. Just pick up the lost mushroom and stick him in a...

    Ever use a Poly Filter?

This may help you when you get them: Poly Filters will remove phosphate and heavy metals, and actually provide an indication of existing problems by changing color. Blue for copper. Orange for iron. Green for ammonia. Dark brown or grey when exhausted.

Cyano or diatoms? Can you tell me what I have? PIC

Cyano is correct. Sunlight will not increase cyanobacteria. It is in your water column and you need to find out why? Vacuum it off the sand just before lights out. This is when the cyano bloom is at its biggest. It will recede in the dark and grow in the light, thus why you should remove later...
