I am trying to figure out the name of this plant and wondering if it can be trimmed and planted

36g bowfront started in April, 7 harlequin rasbora, 7 red eye tetra, 4 rummy nose tetra, 1 angelfish, 21 Amano shrimp

I ended up buying a DIY kit from ah-supply, it's a 55w kit with a polished reflector, came with ballast and all the stuff to retro fit a plastic light kit.

No idea of what I want, something that gets to about 4 inches or so I think, and isn't going to give the other fish a hard time.

Ya the wood has white fungus all over it, the shrimp have cleaned up about 75% of it though.

Ya its the 2215, very nice filter. For the first 6 weeks I had the tank running I had an aquaclear50 and aqueon35 HOBs and the tank water was yellow and had lots of particulate in it. Actually my wood is really leaching out alot of tannins, I put 2 100ml bags of purigen in the eheim and you can see the yellow in the water is gone.

There is actually 6 red eye tetra and 18 Amano shrimp in it right now and when the picture was taken, plan on getting some neon or cardinal Tetra and maybe some rummy nose tetra or mosquito rasp.

New to keeping fish, just got this set up and cycled. Before and after I set up my eheim 2215.

I thought the same about the nitrates, when cycling my tank the ammonia went from 1ppm to 0 and the nitrites went up to about 3-5 ppm and I still can't get a reading on the nitrates. I've been changing about 10 gals of water every 2nd day, could that be the problem? I'm using an API master test kit.

Also if anyone could give me some advice on new driftwood fungus, I've taken it out 3 times and scrubbed it and its back within 4 days.

Is doing a 10gal water change every other day in a 36 gallon planted tank too much? The tank is only 2 1/2 weeks old now, 3 Amani shrimp, 3 red eye tetra. Aqueon 30 and aqua clear 50 running.

I recently planted my tank with java fern, corkscrew Val, Anubis, crypts, and some other plant. I am worried about the lighting. It's a 36gal bow front with a plastic hood and 24" life glo 20watt bulb. The guy at the LFS sold me this and said it would be fine for plants. I'm worried its not...
