Help with the green water blues

Sorry, double posted. check out here: http://www.gregwatson.com/proddetail.asp?prod=IronChelate I only use dry ferts, and he's good, and inexpensive. Wait wobbles, I just noticed you are "down under", not sure if he ships there, but you can try to find a local distributor, or hydroponics store.

Help with the green water blues

Never tested for Fe. Too many people I tust say that that test is too inconsistant. With all the flourite, and using the Plantex CSM+B+Fe at 1/8th tsp I would doubt it's that though. I may have to do the blackout thing

Help with the green water blues

OK, I goofed up big time. My tank was coming along nicely, with the exception of some thread algae, and high Nitrates. My hornwort was growing out of control, and picking up detritus, so I decided to remove it, BIG Mistake. The result was a Green water bloom. You can see my tank specs in my...

    Quick question.... well actually two.

Yea, but the temp of the lights are wrong for planted. You want to look for something in the 5k - 10K range.

    DIY CO2 reactor question

OK, I know this subject has been pretty much exhausted at this point, but I'm about to make one, and have a question that I know someone has had some experience with. I have left over 2” PVC from a home project that I would use. I know I want it on the output of my filter, and that the best way...

    Timer on Filter?

FWIW, I agree with Travis & Malkore, 2 hours is a lot of time for a cannister filter to go anaerobic. Also, Reefers used to do that with powerheads to create waves, and it burns out the power heads faster than leaving it on constantly.

    Converting a Magnum 350 into a Co2 reactor

One question: why drill a hole in the top and create a possible leak? either let the bubble get sucked into the input, or drill the input below the water line, and feed the Co2 tube there.

Covincing People To Rethink Their Fish. . . Can You Help?

People tend to care less about fish for a few reasons: 1) you can't cuddle or pet a fish (exception LFS had a cat fish that liked to have it's belly rubbed) 2) For most people fish are food not friends (Sorry Bruce, Anchor, Chum, and Dory) 3) There is the myth that fish don't think fish live...

    HELP: new 2026 flow question

    Filter dying? Emergency?

If the filter has been off for more than an hour, make sure to drain, and re-fill before plugging it in. The water will go anaerobic, and you don't want to put that back in your tank.

    HELP: new 2026 flow question

I heard that saw people can't see the pics. There isn’t the white ball in the indicator the way the box shows. It’s a red cylinder that has a spring attached to it. Sorry about the pic. If you go to http://briefcase.yahoo.com/tazcrash69> and click on the 2026 folder, either picture will show...

    HELP: new 2026 flow question

OK, I’ve filled my tank, and set up the Eheim 2026. Now I have a question about the flow & the flow indicator. I used the recommend filter media, and pads, I’ve tuned the overflow correctly, however it seems like the flow indicator is not going as high up in the window as it should, and that the...

    DIY CO2 output

I would definilty say that the water was definitly too hot, and the yeast died. You want warm water. I would say about 90 degrees or so. You just want warmer than room temperature. The check valve should be right after the bottle.

Plant cycling a tank against Algae.

Thanks for the compliment on the equipment, and Thanks for the link to the routine. I am aware of EI, and was going to try to use it, but I don't want to get too far behind in the WCs.

Plant cycling a tank against Algae.

OK, I’ve kept many tanks in the past, but now I want to get into a serious planted tank. My equipment is listed in my signature. I’ve been patiently acquiring my hardware, and I am ready to start filling my tank, and running the equipment. Now I am a real noob at a real planted tank, so I just...

    filter recomendations for a 30?

Why not look into the HOT magnum? I think it's about the right size for a 30, easy to maintain, and low profile.

    filter recomendations for a 30?

OK, first thing: banjo cats get large, and will eat anything that will fit into it's gaping maw. The other fish will be expensive food for it. I think with a 30 gallon you would also want to stay away from internal filters. At 30 you may even want to look into a small canister.
