Large white dot on Skirt Tetra

Hey Guys, One of my skirt tetras has develop a large white dot on a back fin, and I think I can see a vein in it (or something red)? As of this morning it appears to have a second one. I've attached a pic, sorry for the fuzzy quality. It's to large for ich, and doesn't look fuzzy like a fungi...

    Pitus acting weird?

Hello All, I have an established tank and recently one of my pictus catfish has taken to either swimming in place or just laying against the corner of my tank. He still seems to swim around at night (he's not in his corner when I turn the lights on in the morning). But pretty much anytime...

    Loach Fin damage

Thanks I'll pick some up. And yeah, since typically you need to half the dose I try to keep a closer eye on my scaleless fish. That way their own immune system can help fight back more easily and they don't need the full dose. We'll have to see but this little guy is not looking so hot right...

    Loach Fin damage

Thanks for the fast reply. I was thinking along the same line. I haven't had to treat for this before, is there a brand you would recommend? API is my usual go to.

    Loach Fin damage

the CL is getting worse. Specifically I've had him isolated and using melafix +air stone but his fin damage is getting worse. And there is significant damage to fins that had none before. And his dorsal fin is clamped. Worse I leave town tomorrow for a week. I can have someone administer a...

    Loach Fin damage

Thanks guys. Normally I have a 3g tanks I could put him in but right now all I have is the 1 g with no filter. Do you think as long as I do daily water changes and am carefully with the med dosing I can keep him in it for a bit?

    Loach Fin damage

Hello All, I have a Clown Loach with small holes in his fins along with slightly raggy fins. He is also about half the size of the other loaches, despite getting them at the same time (I've had them a little over a month). In addition he was swimming with his dorsal fin clamped when I pulled...

    Pictus vs ick

So this is just an update in case any future people come across this thread. I continued to do the half dose with the API super ick. Because the ick was so bad and the pictuse were getting lethargic I started to vaccum gravel twice a day, making sure the hit the locations the pictus and clown...

    Pictus vs ick

Thanks guys, I'll increase the amount of gravel vacuums I'm doing, and keeping trying to medicate. And I'll look into some of the ones you guys recommend. I really appreciate all the help, Here's hoping.

    Pictus vs ick

Yes, I would switch to high heat if that's a better treatment for the scaleless fish. I'm not sure. It just says "API Super Ick Cure contains an ingredient, Malachite green, which causes discoloration in the aquarium water" but I threw out the box already. I've used it before on scaled fish...

    Pictus vs ick

Hey all, My new 55g has ick. This is day 4 of treatment using super ick (my usual go to). I've half the dose and upped the temp to 82 (as directed). Plus vacuumin gravel Every other day but it's getting worse. And the pictus are looking skinny.... I have pictus, clown loaches and clown...

    Clown Barbs Hiding?

Thanks, I wondered if this was the case, but I had never seen a mid level fish be shy this long. Any idea when should I expect to see that behavior shift?

    Clown Barbs Hiding?

Hey All, 24 hours ago I added 5 clown barbs and 4 clown loaches to my tank. I expected the loaches to hide, however the barbs seem to be schooling with the loaches and hiding as well. Is this typical? I thought barbs tended to be bold?

    Fish to a good home?

Hey All, I have some fish I would like to re-home. I got the tank in November because the previous owner kept loosing fish. So the tank has a lot of 'odds and ends' sorta thing. Its keeping me from building the tank I want, but its not the fishes fault so I want to be able to find them a good...

    Very uneven aquarium

Hey all, OP here. Thanks again for all the wonderful advice. So i'm going to post my thoughts thus far for anyone else who needs this. To start with I did go with the 'steps' approach of getting very thin plywood, and cutting it to make a steps appearance. I cut it back every ~5" but if I...

    Very uneven aquarium

Good catch!! I was thinking along the same lines and would have ended up tilting it in the opposite direction  I'll head to the store this week and see what I can find based on your guys suggestions. Thanks for all your help everyone! I'll try to remeber to post a final result after.

    Very uneven aquarium

Thanks for all the replies! You guys make excellent points. My carpintry skills aren't great but, Smallfry, I think youre right, shims aren't stable enough. What about if I use a 2x4 type block to raise one side and then I can get a bunch of those wedge door stop and use them as "shims" for...

    Very uneven aquarium

Yes. sorry. That gap is what I was so inarticulately concerned about. That's why I was initally thinking a ramp. You suggested plastic shims, which makes sense, do you remeber what you picked up?

    Very uneven aquarium

Thanks! And Yes, the left side will need raising. Pic should be below. But I belive it is a Top Fin Open and Close Storage Aquarium Stand for 55-75g. It seems to have a base around the whole thing, not just 4 legs. That's the reason I hesitate to just raise the corners. But then I'm not an...

    Very uneven aquarium

Thanks for the replies! I considered blocks but i am worried if I just put a block of wood under one side it will leave part of the stand unsupported. Potentially letting the bottom of the stand sag or break? A 55g is heavy and idk how strong wood is... I thought a wedge could offer more even...

    Very uneven aquarium

Hello all, I live in an old apartment building. For various reasons I had to move my 55g aquarium from the only level area of floor. The floors in my building are badly tilted and so i moved it to the most even place I could, but it's not great... I have two questions: 1. Is there any...
