Well, the fish looks to be 3-4 inches long so by then a male would start to develop a hump on his head

The mom is so protective, when I look at the fry she goes nuts and moves them!/)

Yes if you wanted another O u would need to have at least a 55 if you want color you could try a JD or green terror? If you want african you can do like 4 peacocks and jewels like maybe 2 and a couple and 3 yellow labs

Most oscars will only grow 12 to 13 inches so you are correct about the 55 but a 75 will have enough turning space.

Id go oscar and maybe some severums or convicts

Really 55 gallon is bare min for a oscar. 75g is pretty ideal for one oscar.

You are correct on the territorial part. If you are looking for color try yellow lab, mine worked out great with my peacock when I had Africans.(switched to South Americans) also try more peacocks. If it does not work than you might want to get different cichlids. Depending on the size of the tank.
