    CA cichlid ID help

Was at the lfs yesterday and really liked this one. Had someone mention flowerhorn and on a tank next to it it had synspilid? Excuse me if I spelled that wrong. Very different fish in terms of temperament so any help is appreciated. Sent from my iPhone using Aquarium Advice

The stuff right behind the crab that's all long and flowing. Any help is greatly appreciated. My buddy is having me take care of his tank while he is in Afghanistan and this is my first sw tank. It looks like it's disturbed and has been all closed up for the past few stays. Sent from my iPhone...

    Starfish question

I'll be the noob again, my buddy had recently bought a star from the lfs and it died on the trip home. They replaced it with a different star but he is unsure if it is reef compatible. It was labeled on the stores tank as a knobby star and all the research I have done says it is not reef...

Is this safe for my aquarium?

I picked up a shell from my lfs today. I seen it had something in it so I have yet to put it in my tank. It looks like some sort of star is crawling out of it now and I am very new to this saltwater thing. I'm trying to add a picture but I can't seem to figure it out

    New 7ft 150+gal

My closest friend recently got into the aquarium hobby. Started with saltwater and immediately wanted to expand from his 75gal tank. He bought a 200gal 7ft tank and in the deal he got a 150gal 7ft tank. He gifted me the 150 so I wouldn't have to re-home my oscars, which are outgrowing the 55gal I...

What kind of fish is this?

Was out at our lfs earlier today and I spotted what looked to me to be a loach. But after starting my loach tank and doing all the research I did into them, I have never seen a loach with these markings before. Just curious cause he was a cool little guy and his tank was not marked. Thanks.

    Oscars + Plants??

Yesterday I decided to re-scape my 55 gallon aquarium. During the process I picked up a couple hardy plants such as an Anubias and some Java Fern. They are only 3" each as of now but I figured it was worth a shot. The plants have been in for 24 hours now and my oscars have not disturbed them...

    HOB Protein Skimmer

Looking to go saltwater for the first time on my 45g long tank. Will probably be a FOWLR till it gets well established and I chose to maybe make it a reef tank later on. I'm in the market for a HOB protein skimmer as I am not planning a sump/fuge as of right now, everything may expand later as...

    Waterproof endcaps

I am in the process of building a canopy for my 45G long tank. I would like to do my own lighting to hang inside the canopy and was thinking either t8 lighting or t5 lighting. It's just a freshwater tank planted with low light plants. I've searched everywhere and found nothing on where to find...

    What silicon to use?

Be read everywhere on this forum to use GE silicon 1 when siliconing in your 3d aquarium background.. I ran to the store and bought this, after reading the instructions on the back(of course after I'm home) it says "not for use in aquariums." I'll try to post a picture below, but being a new guy...

    New Guy Here

First off, I'm glad to be a part of the forums now as I've used these forums for quite some time now. I've learned plenty of things from filters to fish to tank setup, etc... I inherited my first tank from my dad when he passes but my mom was the one actually taking care of it. Sadly, all of...
