Wanted: L144 Blue Eyed Albino Bristlenose Pleco

Wow, I must be color blind then. There are color variations within the L144 name. Probably because everyone and their mother decided to breed them when they caught momentum in the market. Their eye colors range anywhere from blue, brown, to even black.

The blue eyes are the reason why I want an L144, lol

Wanted: L144 Blue Eyed Albino Bristlenose Pleco

I've been having a hard time looking for these guys. I would prefer local pick-up in SoCal, but willing to have it shipped if you're fairly close and shipping prices aren't too ridiculous. I know the heatwave we just had made shipping daily difficult, but it's starting to cool down.

    Live Plant Questions

You can just cut the plants at the rhizome to separate them. Java ferns will also grow plantlets from their leaves. You can wait until the plantlets detach or you can remove them yourself once a small rhizome starts to form.

    Live Plant Questions

Java fern can get pretty tall, but it takes a while. Anubias can be background, midground, or foreground depending on what species you get. Anubias can have 1 ft+ long stalks with leaves the size of a child's face or stalks just cm long with pencil eraser sized leaves.

    plant question

It's possible to have a "carpet" with crypt parva. Unless you're able to buy a lot at one time to make a dense "carpet", it'll probably take a while to fill in because of the slow growth.

Thread, fishing line, or even superglue gel.

If you just got it, just keep on keeping on and don't change anything until you know for sure.

Only if you get root feeders, like crypts. They're useless for java fern, anubias, and bolbitus. Yup, just buy them and put them in.

    Live Plant Questions

Fertilizer won't be necessary. I wouldn't dose ferts until you have a decent amount of plants. Anubias and java fern are notoriously slow growers so fert intake might not be high enough at this time. Algae can take advantage of these excess ferts, starting more problems.

    More questions about oxygen

Wow, pretty high lol When treating with heat only you want to keep the temp up for 10-14 days. Just keep a close eye on your fish as the days go by.

    Live Plant Questions

T5 is just a different type of bulb. It's more efficient and puts out more light for its size. These plants, or any with a rhizome, will not benefit from root tabs at all. Even if your bury their attachment roots in the substrate. Everything is absorbed through the rhizome. They benefit from...

    Live Plant Questions

That'll be fine for java fern, anubias, and bolbitus but not much else. If you really want to upgrade your lights look into t5 or LED. I say just take it slow, stick with these plants for now and if you develop a green thumb go ahead and upgrade.

    More questions about oxygen

It's the agitation that'll help with gas exchange. You can have 10000x turnover rate below the surface but if the surface is calm then there's no exchange happening, or at least not a significant amount. Some fish tolerate high temp better than others. What temp are you at? Whatever the case...

    Live Plant Questions

These low light plants will grow in almost any amount of light you provide. Except for maybe the crypt. It's a low light plant, but a 24" fixture on a 60 gallon seems I bit too low for crypts. But just to be sure, is it a single 24" bulb? I see that in your first post you mention that you have a...

    best fish food?

Definitely. NLS and Omega One are two of the top regularly available ones. The NLS pellets sink way too fast for my liking, so I use Omega One flakes.

    bottom feeders

Feed the rasboras at one of the tank and the neons at the opposite side. If using flakes, sprinkle them on one end so they float. While your rasboras are going crazy for those. Get a pinch of the food and while your pinched fingers are underwater let it go at the opposite side. It'll immediately...

    Something strange on the glass

That's actually indicative of an iron deficiency. Although, it can signify that there is a lack of magnesium in the water column since magnesium is required for iron intake. It's entirely possible that he could have plenty of magnesium and lack iron or he could have plenty of iron, but lack...

    Live Plant Questions

Your lights are enough for the plants he mentioned. Roots tabs are a form of fertilizer. You bury them under plants that are heavy root feeders, like crypts and swords. The anubias, java fern, and bolbitua are all plants that have rhizomes. They look like bars that the leaves grow out of. When...
