Anybody? Why wouldn't a 18000K work?

It wasn't that expensive so I think I'll just keep it. Of course thats only if it will work for what I'm doing that is... It will work well enough to grow tropical plants though right?

Some of the larger one are notorious for that, however smaller cichlids and ones that are more docile are not so destructive.

If you were willing to spend 10 bucks for a 10 gallon (at most wal-marts anyway), then you could get around 3 corydoras and not have any problems. I always loved this combo! :wink:

That almost sounds like your ich isn't ich! Ich spots are fairly small and really shouldn't "peal" off....How large are the spots? Is there any way for you to post a pic? I can't be positive but that doesn't sound like ich at all. We wouldn't to treat a fish for the wrong problem would we...

However, if you are willing to take the plunge and take all the necessary measures of taking care of them, you will enjoy yourself greatly! Discus are a very tough to take care of, but highly rewarding fish. You CAN do it, you just need do do your homework! :D

You could also place a piece of lettuce in the tank at night and pick out the ones on it in the morning, or you could wait until night and manually remove the wall crawlers. A combo of these two methods will be slow but in the end effective. Of course this is only if you don't want to...

Well, I have always used mts's to mix my sand up for me :lol:. They mind their business and I mind mine. Most of the time they hang out in the sand anyway so it doesn't bother me. Its a give/take relation ship I guess... :wink:

As for the male mollies, they do that... Most live bearers get "frisky" when there are only males in the tank. :roll:

I have heard stories where a small clown loach ends up digging himself a grave in the gravel ( they rub vigorously on the gravel when they have a cut/infection/ich/ect). Also, if your decor is hallow, check the insides. They can get stuck very easily, and can go unnoticed even after checking...

Without actually seeing the tank I couldn't recomend anything :( .

That tank will be awesome for most african cichlids provided enough filtration. I think you and your fish will enjoy it immensely. :D

Just fill up a 5-gallon bucket with water and a cup of bleach. Then rub down with a clean wash cloth and let soak for 48 hours. This will make just about anything aquarium safe. Note: watch out for any rocks with metallic substances as this can potentially be dangerous to fish. Also be wary...

The only problem I see with this tank is that you are getting 3 angels. Two of them will pair up, and pick on the odd man out. I would either get 2 (only one pair) or 4 (two pairs, thus eliminating any urge to be meanies) and keep it at that as angels can be pretty nasty customers. Hope...

You can get a fairly large carton (looks like a milk carton) of freshwater salt at petsmart for about 3 dollars. I use it sparingly though.
