The tank and filter in concern is a recent 5.5 gallon setup that's been up and running for 6 weeks. I have two guppies and two RCS in the...

Did I really get a male?

It is def a female but when it comes to females you need to keep atleast three in a group to keep the fighting down. They will still have a pecking order no matter what.

using prime for new aquarium set up

Water changes won't hurt your cycle over all but it does slow your cycle process down so only do them if your parameters get really high. I def recommend using the prime right away. It won't hurt your cycle but will def help your fish get through the cycle period. It's a great product and a must...

    Cycle Done? ( Pic )

Looking for some expert input here bc I'm alittle baffled on this one on where my cycle is at exactly. My amm has been inbetween .25 - .50ppm everyday for the past week or so. My nitrites continue to remain at 0 and my nitrates have been on the rise from 5ppm up to 10-20ppm during that time. I...

Please interpret my water testing 2 weeks in

Water changes are good if your toxic levels get to high but if they are ok I wouldn't do them. While water changes surely don't hurt a cycle process they do slow them down a good bit.

    3, 2, 1, Go!

What are your Nitrates at right now? Unless they are extremely high you def don't need to do a 90% water change or add anymore ammonia if you are putting in fish. The reason of cycling a tank is to not only establish a bacteria colony but to get your water right and have it stay right with...

Cycling with Fish - 2 weeks, no nitrites?

No need to panic, while " fishless " cycles are very popular these days, " fish in cycles " have been in play since the beginning of fish keeping. If done responsibly you shouldn't lose any fish. It sounds like you already have a test kit so you are off in the right direction already. With a...

I didnt cycle my new tank :( help!!!

Monitor your water everyday, if the ammonia gets over .25ppm-.5ppm do a water change. Only do water changes when necessary, every time you do a water change it slows down your cycling process. Alittle bit of ammonia is ok while cycling as the bacteria you are trying to develop needs ammonia to...
