    Sun polyps

I would keep target feeding them, if you are already targer feeding other corals, why not keep doing it? Unless it is the only coral you target feed then you might want to try, but IMO its best for most corals to target feed them at least once a week... HTH

Emerald Crabs, reef safe or not?

Never had a problem with kine, the only thing I hate about it is that sometimes it robs my LPS's food when I feed them at night...

    Alternate placement for a refrigium?

Well, I have heard mixed comments on this. Some people say that the pump will reduce substantially all the living organisms that your refugium will have. Others say that the pumps' damage is minimal. I think it should be OK... Your flow should be around 600G which is a bit on the low side...

    auto temp control

There are, but as you have seen they don't come cheap... Medusa temperature controllers are among the best there is... Though they are used with chillers and heaters...

No problem at all if its only a water change.

    Achilles Tang ????

Try and talk to your LFS and see if they can place it on a separate tank by himself, this way stress will be much, much less. Go for it!!!

Redox + for Cyano Algae control ????????????

Forgot to add that if you will try and use ozone to increase your redox potential you must have a meter and document yourself very well on ozone usage. Unless you are an advanced aquarist I would suggest 10% weekly water changes to keep your Redox in place...

Redox + for Cyano Algae control ????????????

You must certainly might be overfeeding. Try picking the most you can and make a big PWC maybe 50%. Check on your skimmer a good efficient skimmer should be a good course of action. If you keep you lighting photoperiod to a 12-14 hrs a day, then it should be OK. IME lighting affects more on hair...

    When selecting corals...

Totall agree with Phyllis, I too like to keep zones in which to have my corals, the top part is mostly if not all SPS the middle and bottom of one side LPS and on the other side of the tank just a couple of softies that I am seriously considering taking out. I'd like to have several more LPS I...

    Achilles Tang ????

Hard fish indeed!! You can always put a deposit on the fish and be sure he is eating well and behaves normally. As Phyllis said I would QT him at least 4 weeks and almost put him in your main after he is really accustomed to you and feeding nori from a clip as well as frozen foods (Formula Two)...

Anyone have a Cat`s Paw or experience with them?

I don't have a Stylophora but have a Pocillopora which have very similar requirements. Mine is on the upper part of the tank just over the MH and with a lot of flow, it seems that is realy likes it. I do like to target feed it with a liquid food that Coralife sells as Invert Target Food. I have...

    Copperband picked at brain coral?

I had to return mine, he did the same with one of my brains and ate a couple of polyps from my Turbinaria, he had to go, it was beautiful but I don't like fishes that mess with my corals, even though I love fishes. If he aquires the taste for corals there will be no going back, it will always...

Brain coral bleaching (I think), requesting help (pics...)

Well how did you introduced the coral to the tank? Did you acclimated it? Looks like it has hope... You need to tell your LFS owner that LPS are ZOOPLANKTON feeders not Phyto... With a LFS that doesn't know the basics, then his animals aren't going to be very good cared for specimens... Well...

    Pacific Coast Chillers?

    Worst case of cyano ever?

Well, blue-green algae is everywhere, it is carried in the air and that is why this singled cell organism is one of or maybe THE most succsessful living organism, in fact life in the planet comes from blue-green algea. Everyones tank has cyano but excess nutrients triggers it off.

    Full Moon Affecting Fish Habits??

Well IMO this is "the" ultimate goal for any reef aquarist, sexual reproduction... When anyone can reach to the point of successfull sexual reproduction with corals then that means you have reached maturity of your tank and almost perfect water conditions. But I might add that it is quite...

    Brain Worm Coral mucus?

They do rate them as aggressive, but I have never seen any aggressive behavior in my Platygyras yet. But a good rule I always apply is to keep at least 4-5" between any coral, this has worked perfectly for me. I do remember reading somewhere that the the Platys' tentacles are about 3" long, but...

    MH Bulb Recommendations

I don't know for sure if Aqualine Buschke has HQI bulbs, but my 10K from them (which in fact is a 13-14K bulb) are the best ones I have used and are great for coral growth.

    Brain Worm Coral mucus?

They produce a lot of mucus if they are under stress or after shipping/handling Once established they don't produce much. I am supposing this is a Platygyra spp. coral you are referring to. Some corals do produce mucus as a form to catch suspended matter in the water column for feeding purposes...

    MH lighting question

250W lights should be fine. IMO 400W lights are just too much for most any tank unless you have over 36" of depth. The heat 400W lights generate is quite a lot.... :(

    Coral lighting question

If you already have enough wattage per gallon then you could go with PC. And for the color temperature of your lamps I have found that for coral growth and well being 10K is the best. And for looks without sacrificing much growth 13-14K are the ones to use. Myself, I use 10Ks supplemented with...

    Coral resurrected!

Some Fungiids, Euphyllids and some other LPS corals reproduce asexually and happens in a parent colony that has died. After some time, maybe months or years you could be able to see daughter colonies produced from the dead parents decalcified skeleton. These are called anthocauli or...

    Blastomussa?

Yes like IndyReefMan states, with some tongs gently stick the piece of whatever you will be feeding just making sure it is under 1/4" in size into/over the polyps. I feed mine 3-5 times a week at night as these are zooplankton eaters. I like to vary the food with each feeding, though you can...
