They have become one of my favorite fish. I am not sure why they are pricey they breed like rabbits and require no special food or care to thrive

I love mystery fry......waiting to see what you got. Bought java moss one time for a 30 gallon tank I was setting up. Tank was not cycled or anything tied the moss to some driftwood and a few weeks later seen tiny fry swimming around, I ended up with 13 celestial pearl danios.

Probably not for 4 or 5 weeks.....then you should get another batch

I have had many type of danios for years and never seen one that bloated but if its been like that for a year its probably not dropsy or some kind of parasite so I would not be that worried

They are both very nice but the pearl scale is amazing. Do pearl scales come in other colors?

thats around 75gal probably 4 feet, my opinion you could keep him till he was around 8 inches

I was unaware of that practice....dont think i have ever been in the petsmart fish section......thats is wrong and I could understand customers being tricked.....that should be illegal

I dont really blame the stores, their job is to supply the people with what they want. If you are buying a pet you should know the requirements before you make the purchase. Years ago the general public could claim they were uninformed but with the internet and any information you demand only...

A friend of mine has one thats around 13 years old in a 10'x2'x2' tank with a oscar and some sort of large catfish.

could not tell you their sex but they are very nice looking....what I have read is A-males have more rounded head B-females have bigger bellies C-The outline of the body running from the pectoral fins to the anal fin If the body angles down its most likely male ......if it run horizontally...

I had one for about 6 years and it was probably around 6 inches never seen any aggression but I have read they can become a problem

I have bought a few fish their with good results. Going to look at a few LFS this weekend, if no luck I will probably go that route

GodFan I agree with you but many fish that are in our home aquariums that are not suited for them, for example a Giant danio wich is more active than bala are commonly kept in 48 inch tanks that are only 10 times their length. If we only kept fish that were suited to their tank most us should...

I know the rosy reds are suppose to breed like rabbits and males will claim caves to breed in .......i guess something like cichlids but I have no personal experience

Only problem might be the pleco....they prefer warmer water than the other 2 plus at this size the can become aggresive and you may loose a few of your other fish
