I have 18 juvenile peacocks. As I start watching them, will the females do any chasing or just males? I'm starting see some chase others and not sure if that is a way to tell males from females. Thanks in advance.

I just bought 3 of the following peacocks: Lwanda Baenschi Stuartgranti Ngara German Red Sulfurhead I'm fairly certain I have 1 male baenschi. Hoping for 1 male from each. If not, 30 gal grow out tank will be ready for batch 2 in another couple weeks :)

Changed up the aqua scape a little by adding a little more rock and a couple plastic plants. So far, no casualties :)

I was hoping to get some dither fish that are top of the tank swimmers if there are such a thing compatible with peacocks. I have 2 tall, plastic plants that I decided against. I guess top swimming dither fish might like them? I can definitely re-add them but didn't think they would work for a...

New peacocks added to my 110. Hopefully some of these will grow into males :)

Ok, here is a pic of the 110 gal on move-in day for my first batch of 18 african peacocks. The second shows a group of the new occupants :). So far, I'm fairly certain I got one male baenschi out of 3 :) Can't wait to watch them grow. Will purchase another 10 or so in another month.

How many fish to grow out at a time in your 35? I have a 30 that will be mine for now. Could I get away with 10 at a time? Thinking of doing 2 of each species each time until it find my males. I'm thinking 15 - 17 male with maybe 3 yellow labs later on ? Peace

Are there any known peacocks that don't get along with other peacocks? Do I need to worry about what each eats or do they pretty much all eat the same thing? I read people say they do all males but really never specify which ones. Is that because it doesn't matter? I'll hank up the phone now...

I'm going to use 2 of them to cycle my 30 gallon and the other 3 will be taken back to the LFS. I'm fairly certain the Peacocks would eventually eliminate the gold fish.

Unfortunately, I only have a few pieces of white rock. Most are red or gray but you make a great point. I will keep my eye open for some white rock and maybe replace a few pieces at a time. I can then use the other rock for a new 55 gallon...if the wife lets me :) Thanks for the feedback...
