    best dropsy treatment? HELP QUICK!

Trying to follow what's happening here so I can offer advice--sorry if you've answered these questions already. Is the goldie still in the 10 gallon tank? What are the water parameters right now? What medications or other things have you added to the tank?

    Goldfish help!

Yes. I am positive I am not confusing gallons with liters, Pip. My family has been in fishkeeping (breeding and selling) for many years. You're welcome to your opinion, as I am to mine, based on what I learned from them though I only began keeping my own fish recently. What Father, Grandfather...

Fancies grow to 8+ inches, KidFish. :) Here's a visual: http://www.aquariumadvice.com/forums/f135/why-fancy-goldfish-require-big-tanks-visual-perspective-265871.html You can only do the best you can, Roz. And you're doing a GREAT job. Whatever tank size you're able to provide for your fish, it...

    Goldfish Questions...

It's not just the waste. It's the size they grow to. My comets have grown 2 full inches in under six weeks. If they're kept in tanks that are too small, they become stunted, meaning their outsides stop growing, but their insides don't, leading to a sad, slow, painful death.

    Goldfish Questions...

There's no such thing as too much filtration in a goldie tank. The bigger the better. :) Typically, the rule of thumb is 10 times tank volume, so a 29 gallon would need a minimum of 290 gallons per hour. 350 GPH is great. :) As for switching filters--there are a few different ways you can...

    Jack Dempseys dieing

It's a mistake lots of people make, Plecolover 18. It's not your fault--you just followed the instructions you were given. Now you know never to change your filter. I learned the same way, believe me. Your fish should be fine with consistent water changes until the tank finishes re-cycling. :)

    Ill female betta

First things first--stop the melafix. It contains tea tree oil, which coats the surface of the water and prevents bettas, which have a labyrinth organ and need oxygen, from breathing. Second--no fish can live in a half gallon tank. They shouldn't even be sold. Your betta needs a 5 gallon tank...

    Jack Dempseys dieing

Changing the filter will likely have thrown your tank into a mini-cycle and the problems you're seeing are from water toxicity. As Candi1990 said, I highly recommend you test your water ASAP. In the meantime, do a 30% water change, wait two hours, then do another one, temperature matching and...

    Goldfish Questions...

Hi :) Fancies need 30 gallons to start with as juveniles and 10 to 20 gallons for each additional fish. Your 29 gallon is perfect for a young fancy, by himself. Another goldfish would overstock your tank. Adult fancies need 55 gallons each. The heater in the tank is to keep the water...

My fish tank got fluffy stuff on the bottom help

The nitrate is fine, though extremely low which makes me wonder--Did you cycle your tank before introducing the fish? What are you testing your water with? Do you know your ammonia and nitrite levels as well?

    Pond Goldfish Dying! Please help!

Let's see what JLK suggests about the filter. Transferring them back to the main tank is just more stress for them, but I'm really worried about the low level filtration. I have no idea what those black spots are. Do they look at all improved today? Or are they worse?

    Help!!! High Nitrites!

Here's the aqadvisor.com info: Warning: Frontosa is not recommended for your tank - it may eventually outgrow your tank space, potentially reaching up to 12 inches. Warning: At least 5 x Frontosa are recommended in a group. Warning: Yellow Lab may become food for Frontosa. Warning...

    Pond Goldfish Dying! Please help!

Is one of these your filter? Tetra Whisper Bioflow Mini Tank Pets Reviews and Products | Epinions.com If so, that is way too small for goldfish and you'll wind up with toxic water parameters almost immediately. As JLK suggested, consider buying that Biowheel 350 and having it as a backup for...

    Help!!! High Nitrites!

I didn't know anything about your kind of fish, but I was curious, so I input your stocking levels into aqadvisor.com. Turns out you're 194% stocked. (The site also threw up all kinds of warnings about how you need to have so many yellow labs, etc., etc., in a group. I can copy and paste them...

    Help!!! High Nitrites!

Still really, really high. I would recommend another large water change. Do you have any Prime water conditioner? This will only work to 1 ppm, but at least will help provide some protection for your fish. Prime can also be dosed up to 5 times the regular amount in an emergency, so if you can't...

    Pond Goldfish Dying! Please help!

Hooray for peas!!! :) :) :) It must have been some sort of issue with his swim bladder, in addition to whatever else was going on with him. Goldies love veggies so anytime you want to supplement with carrots, sprouts, broccoli florets (my goldies looooooooove broccoli), lettuce, spinach, etc...

    Help!! 0.5 ammonia!!

Any ammonia is harmful, though not necessarily lethal. I come from a family of fish breeders and grew up with this mandate drilled into my head, though I personally didn't start keeping fish until last year. Ammonia is bad news in any amount, though small amounts will not necessarily kill all...

We need more information in order to be able to help you. How big is the tank? What fish are in it? Do you know your ammonia, nitrite and nitrate levels? It says you submitted pictures above, but none are visible. :(
