    Tank Builds

Leafs fan in Ottawa....wow. I thought my son liking the Sens in Toronto was rare....lol The Oscar will eat small fish. If you wanted to have Africans from Lake Malawi, I would trade/sell the fish that are not compatible for fish that are. Do you have any forums in Ottawa. Kijiji is also an...

    75 gal hexagon central american

I do not think that is a 75 gallon tank. You may wish to take measurements and look it up. Given the height you will need different strata fish. Say hatchet fish for the top, neon rainbows for mid to top, and some of the dwarf Cichlid species available. Good luck. Sent from my iPad using...

    bad rock

What size were the Peacock's compared to your Livingstonii. The Livingstonii is a predator. Did they have nipped fins and body scars from being picked on? It bites when fish die.

    bad rock

I would check the water quality. If the fish are not eating or spitting out food it is water quality or malawi bloat. What type of rock are you talking about. If you scrubbed them and ran hot water over them they should be fine. If you wish to research more, here is a thread from a local site...

    How many?

If you want Mbuna, Cichlid Forum shows 8 fish 4 inches and under. I would go with two species that look different. Rusty Cichlid Iodotropheus Sperengae and Labidochromis Chisumlae. You could also look at some of the Cynotalapia species. Sent from my iPad using Aquarium Advice

He is probably an albino Eureka Jacobfriebergi and falls under the more aggressive species. I did not take your comments as arguing, so no worries. Good luck Sent from my iPad using Aquarium Advice

Looked at your list and if it is the Kandeese Blue Orchid, it would explain my comments. These also do best in a species tank. Sent from my iPad using Aquarium Advice

He looks pretty thin. What type of Peacock is it. From the list on the other post you have semi aggressive Peacocks mixed with peaceful Peacocks. Less dominant fish regardless of size will color up slower. Sent from my iPad using Aquarium Advice

It appears to be a male Peacock based on the pointed anal fin. This fish is pretty small and will not color up until it is more dominant. You may wish to have a grow tank set up to grow some of the smaller fish. Sent from my iPad using Aquarium Advice

    Cichlid full belly advice

If the Cichlid is eating then you are feeding too much. My main tank I feed every other day and my spawning or grow tanks, I feed once daily. If the fish is not eating then you have bloat, which is hard to cure. Sent from my iPad using Aquarium Advice

    How many?

Look for egg spots on the anal fin. That will give you a better chance of getting a male. If you were in Toronto, I could help you out with some juvie males: Auloncara Bi-Color 500, Otopharynx Z-Rocks Lithobates, Mbasi Creek Lethrinops, Auloncara Masoni, Placidochromis Jalo Reef, and Protomelas...

    How many?

Yes Auloncara is the name used for peacock species. Your two jacobfriebergi will pick on the other peacocks. Kandeense do better is a group and do not generally color up in a male set up. The Greshaki are too aggressive. The Intermedius will be fine. You may be okay with the yellow lab. I still...

    How many?

Filtration, what percentage water change, how often you do a water change will affect how many fish you have. In my 180 gallon I have two sponge filters, Tetra hang on back filter, eheim canister, and a Fluval G6. 30 percent weekly water change. Buying juvie peacocks will limit you to one...

    Cichlid ID help

I had to look up what an iceman Cichlid is. They are not Pseudotropheus Acei. I agree with Garfy on the Socolofi Cichlid and would guess based on the second Cichlid also having black strips on the tail fin that it would is also a Pseudotropheus Socolofi. Sent from my iPad using Aquarium Advice

    New tank build

Most African Cichlid set ups have either Mbuna, Peacocks or Haps. If you are looking for something different for haps and peacocks, there are lots of nice Lethrinops species. Choose one of Mbasi Creek, Red Cap, Orange Cap, Kande Island; One of the Copadichromis Mloto species; one of the...

    Cichlid Stocking Advice (150 gallons)

Mixing peacock females is not a good idea. They will hybridize and there will be more aggression for breeding rights and territory. You also have peaceful and mildly aggressive peacocks on your list. By peaceful I am referring for African cichlids. You need to do some more research and reduce...

When can my yellow lab fry join the main tank?

A little longer with aeration. Fry will stunt if kept in close quarters. I cannot say how long, however I remove my fry once they are eating on their own and put them in a 15 gallon grow tank, next step to a 30 gallon until I find takers. Sent from my iPad using Aquarium Advice

When can my yellow lab fry join the main tank?

I am surprised that the fry are not being eaten through the net. With the non yellow labs you have, they are pretty aggressive. You need a grow tank to get them to two inches and then you have a chance of a few surviving if there is a lot of rock that they can hide. Normally adding smaller fish...

    Eureka Red Tank Mates

Is he bigger than the rest of the fish? I would have thought that most of the fish, save the other peacocks would be okay. As for tank mates in the 75 gallon, how about some other mildly aggressive haps...Protomelas species like Steveni Taiwanee Reef, Ndiwe Fire Hap, Red Empress, or you can get...
