Algae Identification - New one on me

Maybe I'm ignorant, but I can't recall having seen this kind of algae. At first I thought it was diatomic of some sort, but now I'm not sure. It seems that Hermit Crabs die shortly after ingesting it. Sent from my iPhone using Aquarium Advice

I need "silver dollar" coloring explanation.

The store in which I work was given a what we thought to be Silver Dollar. He was a small juvenile with these odd red patches. We thought it to be bacterial but he never seemed sick nor responded to treatment. As he grew, the colorations grew with him and have stayed this way. Is It even a...

    Opinions please- sump system

I don't necessarily have any concerns myself, more so wanting to know if anyone could find something wrong with the idea, or some way to improve it without changing the concept.

    Help

Did you happen to top off the tank or do a water change with water that was not passed through a reverse osmosis unit? Or, if the stand was stirred, nutrients could of been brought up to the top.

    Help

Is it a newly set up tank? Looks to be diatoms. Feed mostly off silicates and phosphates in new sand. They'll die off once they've consumed all their nutrients. Don't fret over them.

    Opinions please- sump system

A customer of mine from where I work came up with this, and asked me to find holes in the idea. I've yet to find any, but I want other opinions and I'm open to suggestions. Here's what's going on, and a quick sketch of the idea plus my explanation. Water from the overflow spreads over a...

    One by one...deaths

It's very possible that the apparent ich was caused by all the stress. You could raise the temperature...or also look into saltwater dips. I would suggest adding salt to the entire tank, but because of the clown I wouldn't feel comfortable with that. Research the saltwater dips with...

    Anemone Identification

From the picture, it looks like it. Hard to tell. I'm leaning towards yes, and would encourage it's removal.

Do you have any pictures of the fish that are looking torn? Or possibly even deceased? That way we can get a better idea if it IS flexibacter.

I'll warn, though, clown loaches are particularly sensitive to salt.

    Help Fish Dying

Well, it appears that a lot of your bacteria is wanting to grow there. I wouldn't change any of it out. Just visually inspect your sponge for large chunks, and keep up with your purigen regenerations.
