    Hello, new to plants!

Lately I have been playing with some lighting options and would apprecieate your opinions. I made a custom hood in which I am running 2xT12 20w 6500k 24" bulbs over the very center of the tank, and on the sides I tucked in 4x 13w cfl 6500k The light from the 4x cfl really seems to help overlap...

    Lighting help.

T5 no it says use half value shown on chart, BUT, your using 2xt8=sameas=2xt5no so I'm thinking that the halve of the calculation being in nescessary and if you use the original "fair" line on the graph it puts you at a really high par. It's all pretty confusing but that's what I get from it.

If you use this to judge reflector quality, I think you may find your findings much higher then you had thought.

    Lighting help.

Depending on the quality of the reflecting your doing you may be in the high range easily. Or even too high light. If you use the graphs not the chart you may get vastly higher readings. I'm assuming that you have atleast fair reflection going on, and with only a fair amount of reflecting going...

    Lighting help.

Difference being would be colour spectrum, being lights I have in there are 2x 8000k, surely 2x 6500k spectrum, would be better. But would the full spectrum lights I have currently work great also?

    Lighting help.

After numerous hours of research and coming across a informative thread by "hoppy" I am under the impression, that my dual t8 lights are equivalent more less to his 2 bulb 48 inch hd diamond plate shop light 6500k bulb test. Hence , I should be getting around 50-55 par at gravel, and amount...

What could I get away with growing with Dual t8 24" 17w full spectrum bulbs. 38g tank. It's 18" tall. If anyone could back me up with some calculations on this I'd apprecieate it. I'm in the phase of doing a custom hood just trying to use a bunch of spare parts I have. The lighting with two...

Next time put your fish before soccer practice, your coach will understand saving your pet's lives is a valid excuse to show up late to a PRACTICE. If you see a problem with your fish address it immediately, generally no matter what is wrong, water conditions disease infection ect. Usually by...

even larger shrimps, bamboo or vampire will almost certainly survive.

First attempt at a stock for 35g

If you want to try shrimps, you will need a heavily planted tank or a tank with a lot of hiding places. Plus x amount of colony reproduction to offset the eating of the shrimps that the swords would eat. You should also use larger shrimps then the RCs. They look pretty but they are tiny so...

First attempt at a stock for 35g

Rasboras and pandas prefer cooler waters and the bn and swords are forgiving of water temp. I see no issues....

Or you could just keep your tank at a lower temperature to suit everybody. As the rest of his fish choices seem rather tolerant of lower temperatures.

First attempt at a stock for 35g

I think it should be mandatory to learn about overstocking when keeping fish, you don't have to exercise that option. But everyone should learn about it. There would be a lot less fish deaths if people's eyes were opened to these things instead of being sheltered from it. I know for a fact...

First attempt at a stock for 35g

More fish the better IMO. And if the op wants to learn to overstock there tank, good for them! You may aswell learn the facts about that early on. It will teach you so much about filtration and beneficial bacteria that you will easily be able to keep a modestly stocked tank without breaking a...
