Gravel pit and fish love it!

When I was pouring water back in after cleaning my tank, a large pit formed from new water disturbing the gravel bed. I didn't notice until the next day (today) and saw that most of my fish liked it, especially my Bristlenose Pleco The pit is behind a bridge ornament, and provides a nice place...

    When i grow up?

Well, now I kind of have an idea. An arowana/oscar tank, with large clown loaches and a featherfin catfish in a very large tank, probably 250 gallons. Then a 125-150 gallom community tank with small fish.

Lower GH an KH, white buildup below water line

Ok, cool! Hate to give the cliche "need a bigger tank" answer but this is like a way extreme case lol. Best of luck?

    Fish Stores

Haha some people are so uneducated. The reason I say people and not just children is that I see adults fail just as hard as they did. I see the problem with some people and fish is that chain pet stores tell you lots of fake crap that gets you to spend more money. Im 14 as well, but when I was 8...

    Petco....

My guppy tank is about 10 fish umder max capacity, and right now it has around 20 fish. If overstocking starts to come up, I'll put a 55/75 gallom filter on it. I already do weekly 40%-60% water changes. One thing that really bugs me about aqueon bowfronts is that water evaporates so fast. My...

    Petco....

But as I said how it depends on the fish, I had 4 males and 2 females about 3 years ago in my 29 gallon. The first 3 males were fine and all got along, but the fourth was a sort of the dominant male of guppy land or something and he tried to kill all my other males and sometimes females. Kind of...

    Petco....

4 males in a 29 might be ok, it depends how hungry for territory the males are. But thats where you have a 2:1 female to male ratio to keep them busy. However in my 26 bowfront I had a few baby guppies (about 15) and the majority are males. The f/m ratio is like 1.5 and I havent seen any...

Well, to sum up what i put the first time, I actually have thr 26 gallon version of that with an amazon sword plant in it. But my tips that I said were to always have patience, do your research, and be prepared to spend a decent amount of money. Also, how you said how you don't want to begin...

Sounds great, and I'm glad to see that you went overkill on filtration! Actually I have a smaller version of your tank (26 gallon) sitting next to me as I type. I think Aqueon is the one with "A hair up their rear" for only giving you a filter for a 30 gallon. I am actually going down the same...

Lower GH an KH, white buildup below water line

The white foggy buildup is natural for a fish tank, but instead of taking time to clean it up, I would invest in a larger fish tank. 10 gallons as a minimum, but go as large as you can afford. Sadly, that danio won't last very long in that bowl no matter how good you take care of it. But, if you...

    Oscar advice?

When I turn 14 (6th year of fish keeping) I am getting a 75 gallon tank which I plan on putting an Oscar Cichlid in. It will have a HOB and a canister filter. Any tips for me on Oscar food, substrate, water parameters, or anything else would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

My First Tank! :) Day One Updates

Cool to see someone else joined the hobby. Also, very nice fish tank. Its always great to see a betta wasn't crammed into a small bowl as a last minute tank upon arriving home from the county fair. Good job, and best of luck with your tank!

    Petco....

On my closet floor is my first aquarium (empty) that is 2 1/2 gallons. When I saw it, I remembered my first time getting fish, which was 5 years ago. I asked the Petco employee what I can put in that tank, and his answer still makes me laugh today. "2 goldfish would be ok, and maybe a small...

    Ughhhhhhhh

So a funny story... Today my cat decided to pee all over two 5 gallon buckets and a siphon that I use to clean all my tanks, on water change day. I wouldn't have this problem if I had the right kind of sink to put a PYTHON ONTO........ Oh well. I have to get some new supplies and soon. Thanks cat.

Good treats for my community tank?

With the smallest fish being a Zebra Danio and the biggest fish being a Blue Gourami, what are some good treats I can give them besides bloodworms? (Things such as meat or veggies)
