Brown Fuzz Eating Cory's Fins??? Help! :(

When I peeked in on them last night I didn't see any wormy pieces laying on the gravel. I'm going to do a water change tonight anyway, because before re-dosing the tank I need to do the recommended water change, so I will be vacuuming up anything that they might have missed.

Brown Fuzz Eating Cory's Fins??? Help! :(

Will do, thank you for the advice. :) So far *knock on wood* everyone else is acting fine, they enthusiastically ate a bunch of bloodworms yesterday, so. Hopefully it was caught in time. I appreciate the help.

Brown Fuzz Eating Cory's Fins??? Help! :(

I did not. I just used the furan-2 and the kanaplex. I was actually going to ask how long I should do the treatment. (If not just you, but anyone knows). I did the directions on the box for Furan-2, so 4 total treatments, and 3 days of Kanaplex (cuz it says not to use it more than 3 days). My...

Brown Fuzz Eating Cory's Fins??? Help! :(

Vitachem is just liquid water soluble vitamins, and garlic guard is just garlic extract (read: garlic juice) that I soak their food in to make it yummy and for them to get a little extra immune boost. My bettas love it. Also, so far *knocks profusely on wood* all of my bettas are doing quite...

Brown Fuzz Eating Cory's Fins??? Help! :(

Haha, thanks. >.< Sorry to hear about your discus, though. I do 30-50% water changes every week, use vitachem and garlic guard, feed them NLS flakes, brine shrimp, blood worms, look them over with a scrutinizing eye every day and have a larger filter than I need for the tank size. BAH...

Brown Fuzz Eating Cory's Fins??? Help! :(

Just a quick update: I had to euthanize the cory that is pictured on the first page. Poor dude kept flopping over on his side and I would think he was dead and then he'd like spaz and flutter and right himself. But he was listing and breathing heavily and I felt so bad for the little fella. Also...

Brown Fuzz Eating Cory's Fins??? Help! :(

Thank you :) Also, I'll go ahead and use it - a quick google says it should be okay. If not, I can always get more nerites. <_<

Brown Fuzz Eating Cory's Fins??? Help! :(

Thanks! I have a giant thing of H2O2 (because I'm a klutz!), so would be up to that as well. I have seen PP mentioned a lot in forums, but honestly I haven't really researched it. For some reason I feel like it's bad for inverts? o_O But that might be untrue (I've read a lot about a lot of meds...

Brown Fuzz Eating Cory's Fins??? Help! :(

Ha, oh, I'm definitely scared. I've read about columnaris and it's scary sh!t. But I also am trying to get a jump on it and be as proactive as I possibly can. Thankfully the corys are the only things showing symptoms so far *knock on wood* and the rest of my fish are like "DAYUM THOSE BLOODWORMS...

Brown Fuzz Eating Cory's Fins??? Help! :(

Thank you. Okay, so question about salt (Also I posted my params up top on the original post - everything looked okay, except my nitrates were a bit higher than I'd like to see...but it's water change day anyway, and I'm going to do a big thorough gravel vac and boil my decorations and get rid...

Brown Fuzz Eating Cory's Fins??? Help! :(

I have actually read that article before, but part of me is wondering if it isn't the saprolegnia (sp??) because of the brown growths on my cory's fins AND the fact that my temp was sustained at 86 for 3 weeks. My plants were dying off, too, so that would've contributed to the organic matter...

Brown Fuzz Eating Cory's Fins??? Help! :(

Thank you to you both. Should I just treat the whole tank, then? (Reading the link now) I have both Furan 2 and Kanaplex on hand. ETA: I'm going to be doing a huge gravel vac and water change today, as well as trying to clean my tank decor. *sigh*

Brown Fuzz Eating Cory's Fins??? Help! :(

I just got home and saw that one of my other cories has white fuzz around his mouth, and I'm about to catch him and stick him in with my other cory while I'm doing the water tests. :/ All my other fish are totally fine, it's just the corys.

Brown Fuzz Eating Cory's Fins??? Help! :(

Good morning everyone! One of my corydoras Julii is suffering from something growing on his fins and I have no idea what is wrong :( He wasn't really moving last night, but he's a cory, and they do that sometimes, so I didn't think too much of it. This morning I found him in the same spot and...

    Reintroducing Snails After Velvet?

TBH, since they are snails, they are in a little tank in the basement. XD They do have a heater and a filter, but the only light is a table lamp that is on the piece of furniture they're on, lol. I have been looking and I am seeing ~6 weeks for a fallow period, but I have seen as high as 12...

Are quarantine tanks even necessary for freshwater?

Lol, thank you. :) I might let my sponge filter sit for a few days in the salt and then bleach it and let it sit outside for a few days (if it will ever actually stop freaking raining!), as you suggested. I like this sponge filter a lot, I am hoping actually to use it in a betta tank of mine...

Are quarantine tanks even necessary for freshwater?

Awesome, thank you! :) I was more worried about like...harming the base of the sponge filter with boiling water, or having leftover bleach hanging out in the actual sponge part. I can rinse and rinse, and I use bleach to sterilize pretty much everything, but I am still sooooooo paranoid about it...

Are quarantine tanks even necessary for freshwater?

How would you boil or bleach a sponge filter? o_O (Which is what I am currently running in my QT.) I did do as another poster suggested and added a crap ton of AQ salt to the tank and let it go. I can leave it there for a week. My fish are actually all fine, no deaths or disease, lol. The QT is...

    Reintroducing Snails After Velvet?

Evening, all. I have a question in regards to reintroducing nerite snails after losing a fish to velvet. In early to mid May, I lost my betta fish to velvet. :( He had two nerite snails in his tank with him, and as I understand it, they cannot get velvet, but they can transmit it. As such, I...

Are quarantine tanks even necessary for freshwater?

To add to this, I have been wondering - what do you do after the QT? Do you put the sponge filter/extra media back in your filter/tank, or do you chuck it and buy a new one to put in there? Say, for instance, the fish dies. What then? Wouldn't it be bad to put that back in your main tank? Or...

Harlequin Rasboras - Full of eggs, or parasites?

There aren't any white patches, just what looked like a maybe (I can't really tell) fuzzy edge on one of the fins on the fat fish. But they move so quickly I honestly couldn't tell if it was the light or if it was fuzz. I watched them more last night and didn't see anything? So now I have no idea.

Harlequin Rasboras - Full of eggs, or parasites?

I have noticed that some of the others are flipping upside down and putting their bellies on the undersides of my fake plant leaves, which I have read is spawning behavior. I haven't seen this particular rasbora displaying any of that behavior, however two or three others are doing the flippy...

Harlequin Rasboras - Full of eggs, or parasites?

Hi everyone. I have 6 harlequin rasboras in a 20g tank (they are in with 5 corys and 2 otos), and I have noticed over the last couple of days some of them look really fat and bloated. One of them is REALLY bloated and swims sort of..off kilter? It's still active and darts around with the...

    Merging two 20gs into a 40g? Advice, please. :)

Gotcha. The 38 is 36 1/4" long, and I believe the 40 is also 36" long. The issue for me was more width front to back, as my stand is only 17" across (where a 40 is 18" wide). My stand is 46 inches long and a 40 long is 48 inches, lol. But length wise, both the 38 and 40 are the same. :) So I...
