+1 I like to keep my cories at a minimum of 5 per species, but you could maybe just add one or two more of each. For a centerpiece you could do a gourami or an angelfish or something like that. In my 30g I will have some cories, neons, ADF, and a gourami.

Alright. So today I went out and bought a gold gourami and 4 emerald cories. They're all loving their new tank!

If you wanted to do a planted tank, you could use plants to hide the dividers.

Yep. I have a day/night timer, so my co2 and lights are synced. I also run an air stone at night.

For my 5 gal betta tank I have a topfin 10 gal. It works pretty well, especially if it's just one fish. It might be a little overkill for a 2.5 though.

For a 5?? I have my dwarf gourami in a 23, I wouldn't recommend for under a 20 gal IMO. And definitely not a not-dwarf gourami. Some of those get upwards of 5-6 inches, maybe larger idk.
