    Question regarding bubble coral

I've got the same white/green bubble coral in my 46 gallon bowfront under 196w pc lights. The bubbles do best when they are gently moving with the current. They are very fragile so be careful if you handle it.

    Coral Spacing

So far, so good. Right now the spacing is about 6 inches, maybe 7, from the Torch to the nearest SPS above it. Thanks for your help!

    Coral Spacing

A few months ago I set up a 25 gallon nano tank with a Sunpod 250 DE HQI light. This will be primarily a SPS tank. I've added a few small SPS frags including a blue Tort and a flourescent green Hydnophora. For diversity I added a small one inch frag of zoas and a Torch coral (LPS) who's polyps...

Moving live rock - re-scaping tank?

Avoid the Garf Grunge. I made the mistake of adding some to my tank and it made a big mess of things. The formerly white sand substrate was covered with small rocks and broken shells. I eventually removed it and my tank looks much better without it. If you want to encourage coraline growth...

    online, used, or LFS

I recommend buying the large items such as tank, stand, and canopy from a reputable LFS. This will save on shipping costs and possible damage claims. Be sure to shop around because prices vary alot from store to store. Smaller items such as lights, powerheads, skimmer, live rock, and livestock...

    Sump/Overflow confusion-please....!

Check out the CPR HOB overflows at: http://www.cprusa.com/products/overflows.html They work great. If you have a power loss the water will continue to drain into the sump until the display tank water line falls below the overflow intake, breaking the siphon. Make sure you leave enough empty...

    Toadstool problems???

Last night I noticed something unusual going on with my toadstool leather coral. Initially the polyps were retracted, the mouth was slightly open, and I could look into the mouth and see the liverock behind it. There must be a hole in the back side of the toadstool's column. I looked thru the...

When during Light Cycle to add Bubble Tip Anemone

Dr. Nate is giving you good advice. I tried an anemone before I was really ready for one and lost it within a month. Wait awhile to give your tank time to stabilize. Tank stability and regular maintenance are much more important when you have an anemone. For a good RO/DI water unit check out...

So I got my GRUNGE today....

Seepu..... I added Garf Grundge to my tank a little over a month ago, too. Have seen a few small worms, no pods or microstars. But, what a mess it made! Lots of empty shells and shell pieces, a few small rocks, nothing larger than half an inch. The money I wasted would have been better spent on...

    Salt Residue on Glass

Vinegar! Great, I'll try it tonight. Thanks.

    Salt Residue on Glass

What do you folks use to remove salt residue from your glass tank lids? I've used only water and a soft scrub brush and the residue remains. I'm afraid to use anything stronger out of fear of contaminating the tank. The glass seems to be becoming etched and losing its transparency. Any suggestions?

    Recommendations for next fish

Looking for some advice on which fish to add next. Probably my last one. See my current inhabitants in the list below. I'm thinking of adding either a Six Line Wrasse, a Fridmani Pseudochromis, or a Royal Grama. I picked these because I understand they help to control bristleworms. Although I...

    Anyone bought live rock here?

Live rock Another place you could try is Tampa Bay Saltwater. There website is www.tampabaysaltwater.com/index.html You may not need their "Package". Go to the ordering section and the priceless shows the cost of just the live rock, $6.00 a pound. Plenty of coraline. Good luck!

please help me wiht seting up my sump

Pardon me for jumping in here. But how do you control the system from overflowing the sump or the main in the event of a power outage? If I understand it correctly, the suction from the main to the sump will continue if power is lost to the return pump, resulting in an overflow at the sump. But...

Need Crab ID Please! Good or Bad?

Can anyone ID this crab for me? Saw him tonight for the first time. The last live rock addition was in October 2005. Must have been hiding ever since. His main body is about the size of a dime, but with legs and claws he's overall about the size of a silver dollar. He appears to be fuzzy all...

    What Pump for UV Filter???

For Christmas, Santa (aka the little woman) got me a Coralife 18 watt Turbo Twist UV filter. Must have been a good boy this year. Now I'm trying to decide which pump to use for it. You can see my present tank setup in my signature below. Right now its stocked with 3 Blue-Green Chromis, 1 Skunk...
