I bought some jungle vals online and they arrived this morning. Most if not all the roots are half inches long with maybe 1 or 2 strands that's 2 inches! I tried planting them but 2/3 of the jungle Val I received are floating. Will they grow roots when they're floating?

Has anyone ever put acorns in their tanks? I'm asking because I have a bunch of them in my yard and from what I've read oak wood is safe for aquariums so shouldn't the acorns be aquarium safe as well?
