    Mystery stuff growing in tank

10 gallon. Can't remember filter type at the moment. I'll get back to you on that. Ph is 7.4, Ammonia 0 ppm, Nitrite 0 ppm, Nitrate is 40 ppm. Lights are on about 8-10 hours a day. I try to break it up into 2 segments of 4 hours with at least 3 to 4 hours in between.

So there's this green gunk that is growing in several places in my tank. I have no idea what it is, what causes it, or how to get rid of it. Can anyone help? Please!

    Fungi?

So there's some sort of growth killing all my snails in my tank, and it also seems to be causing less of an appetite for my fishies (at least both started around the same time) can anyone identify it? And how to "cure" it? I apologize in advance for the quality of the photos.

    Mystery plant needs trimming!

So I have a couple questions: 1) what is this plant? I thought for a while it was Baby Tears (not dwarf baby tears) but I'm pretty sure I'm wrong. 2) how do I trip it down without killing it? I've heard the cutting off the apical meristem will kill it or make it not grow upward any more and I...

    Fin nipping

I was told that the Molly would help with a previous Hydra problem I had, but that turned out to be false. At least in my case it was. So I'm planning on taking it back for store credit. I do plan on upgrading fairly soon, I'm just getting together the money I need to get all the equipment! For...

    Fin nipping

The tanks is 10g. The plants are beginning to grow more, and fill in, but it's a slow process. Now that I look at the picture I realize how sparsely planted it truly is. Perhaps I should add some more... That might help. There's a fairly large cave under the driftwood. Large enough that several...

    Mystery algae?

This algae is over running my tank. How do I get rid of it? I've limited the amount of time the light is on and the amount of food/how often they are fed. Sent from my iPhone using Aquarium Advice

I have a GBR that seems to be nipping on the fins of my neon tetras. How can I stop this? Is there a way to stop it without removing the tetras? Sent from my iPhone using Aquarium Advice

    Dirting a tank. Need help!!

I've been reading up on dirting tanks, and it sounds like the dirt will cause ammonia spikes and such, and that this will cycle a tank. However, my tank is already cycled and has fish in it. Will dirting it now cause another cycle to occur? Is it safe to keep my fish in the tank? Unsure if I...

Wanting to dirt my tank. Worried about BB

Well, my tank recently finished cycling about two to three weeks ago, and I am now wanting to convert it from a gravel bottom to a dirted tank with gravel on top. Or possibly just using Eco complete. Which is the better option and will doing either one of those harm the population of my BB? I...
