Yes I have cherry barbs, and I know they are way different. When the pet store called them small sun barbs, I was thinking like golden barbs, but as soon as I started looking at pictures, I wasn't too sure. Now seeing the rosy barbs, they look very much the same. So they will get twice the size...

They are all over the place, but right now with everything so small and the tank so big, it's nice to SEE something move around. Just wanted to post an update, that I indeed took Coursairs advise, and added some live plants. Hope they live. I attached the java fern with that gel super glue, and the anubias is tied. I am now looking for something tall to go in the back. But nothing that roots. And something for my future...

Ok watch the cories video, and yeah they need I soft substrate. But the pearl gourami may really work nicely. I read on your link above, It is one of the most attractive, hardiest, and easy-to-keep gouramis. That sounds like a fish for me. Any chance they could eat the barbs, as 4" is a lot...

That is just what the pet store guy said that the Cardinals and neons don't do well. They are a favorite, but I don't want problems either. The barbs are very active and the black neons much calmer. It's a big tank, but no live plants. So would some rainbows get alone with the barbs?? I know...
