Can you help ID new fish, please??

I think I have good filteration, a marineland emperor 400, and two power heads attached to an undergravel filter. I know everyone hates ugf, but when it was the only filter in the tank, water was always clear. I also added phosguard to the filter, and all my algae worries are gone...

Can you help ID new fish, please??

I have four of the rosy barbs in a 75g tank. and 7 cherry barbs. But everything I read says the rosy barbs need to be in a school of 5 or more. I can't get more at that size. Buy they seem peaceful right now, just super active. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G900A using Aquarium Advice mobile app

Can you help ID new fish, please??

Yes I have cherry barbs, and I know they are way different. When the pet store called them small sun barbs, I was thinking like golden barbs, but as soon as I started looking at pictures, I wasn't too sure. Now seeing the rosy barbs, they look very much the same. So they will get twice the size...

Questions about fish and tank size

They are all over the place, but right now with everything so small and the tank so big, it's nice to SEE something move around. They are constantly picking at the plants and rocks, but not aggressive towards anyone, just hungry, lol. I'm just so upset that they will get so big. I looked them up...

Questions about fish and tank size

This forum has been so helpful, I'm really hoping I can get some advise on my current setup. Thru this forum I found out my small barbs are really rosy barbs that will get around 6". This seems like too much for my tank. I currently have one blue crawfish that never comes out, 7 cherry barbs...

Can you help ID new fish, please??

Local pet store said these were sun barbs, and they would stay small. Looking that name up, I don't think it's right. I really would like to know for sure, they are eating the roots completely off my frogbit, and they attack my Christmas moss too? But they are lively. Thanks Sent from my...

Oh no, I think I messed things up adding flora pride

Oh and I change 10-20% water while cleaning the rocks every Saturday. My ph is staying high 7.6, I did try the high ph kit too, but no its 7.6. But everything else looks good. Ammonia 0, nitrite 0, nitrate I think is 20-40. This api master test kit is hard to read, there is very little...

Oh no, I think I messed things up adding flora pride

Thanks coursair. The stuff on the decorations is powdery like diatoms. Seems slightly different on the glass, but not sure. But the tank was never fully broken down, ie, the rocks and tiny bit of water have been there for a while with the under grave filter. However it's only been 5 weeks since...

Oh no, I think I messed things up adding flora pride

Ok I've been having a small problem with the brown spots, I don't think it's really brown algae, but included a picture. Anyway after adding java fern and anubias I decided they needed some fertilizer. So I added the recommended amount on the bottle of tetra flora pride after cleaning my tank...

    Shoaling question tetras

Thanks, I was thinking about drift wood or that cactus wood (can't think of the name), but afraid it would leach and cause a problem. I understand it has to be soaked for days. Not that I won't try it, if this all grows:) Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G900A using Aquarium Advice mobile app

    Shoaling question tetras

Just wanted to post an update, that I indeed took Coursairs advise, and added some live plants. Hope they live. I attached the java fern with that gel super glue, and the anubias is tied. I am now looking for something tall to go in the back. But nothing that roots. And something for my future...

I really had no idea, I just kind of thought all plants root. I am seriously looking into this idea. The java fern looked the easiest from what I read so far. And easy to get. May be a good place to start. Thanks again for all this great information. I am learning so much. :) Sent from my...

Cool, I think I will get the pearl gourami, it seems perfect. I will look at the cories again, but I'm thinking my undergravel filter could also be a problem? I'm really trying to think this thru, so as to minimize problems. Oh and I do have a regular filter too an emperor 400. I know everyone...

    Shoaling question tetras

Ok watch the cories video, and yeah they need I soft substrate. But the pearl gourami may really work nicely. I read on your link above, It is one of the most attractive, hardiest, and easy-to-keep gouramis. That sounds like a fish for me. Any chance they could eat the barbs, as 4" is a lot...

    Shoaling question tetras

The pearl gourami would be very nice. Following the advice here, I will hope to get some more cherry barbs first, as I really like those. As for the cories I have natural pea gravel on the bottom, I wonder if that may bother them, as that's another one I really like. I'm just happy I found such...

Also I'm sorry to repeat but would the yo yo loaches be too aggressive? Or maybe a different bottom feeder. And would the rainbows be a good idea? The pet store did say he could order a few things, but I didn't ask what. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G900A using Aquarium Advice mobile app

    Shoaling question tetras

That is just what the pet store guy said that the Cardinals and neons don't do well. They are a favorite, but I don't want problems either. The barbs are very active and the black neons much calmer. It's a big tank, but no live plants. So would some rainbows get alone with the barbs?? I know...
