    Smaller tanks are actually much more of a pain in the *** to care for. I agree that your tank is already overstocked. Gourami's are very shy, and may not be comfortable sharing such a tight space with so many neighbors. Also, schooling fish, like Tetras, do best in groups of 6 or more.

    Tetras are best in groups of 6 or more, as they are schooling fish. I have Neon Tetras, and they are the most laid back fish I've ever had. They just kind of hang out in a group and occasionally mosey. I've never witnessed a nip; not even to each other.

    Rainbow Shark and Rainbow Fish in planted tank?

    From what I understand, Rainbow Sharks and Rainbow Fish are mostly herbivorous, so what, if any, plants would be recommended for the aquarium that they may not be interested in consuming? I would really prefer live plants if possible in my 55 gallon tank.
