Air Check Valves

I have a dual outlet million air 600 pump running two air stones. I have check valves installed about 12" past the pump. They don't seem to work. I always get back siphoning no matter what I try, I checked the valves and they are installed correctly. Any one use a particle brand that they like and seems to work? Any suggestions?

I use a couple different brands one I don't remember. One is "aquarium solutions". Both have done their job.
