Algae?!?!?

What kind of algae is this? How do i get ride of it? Hoping its not what i think it is looking for others inputs

Algae is a nutrient issue. Minimize feeding, use ro/di water...some examples. There is an article on algae control in the articles section.

You'd treat it just like you would a cyano or algae outbreak. Reduce food source and time.

Is this a newer tank? It looks a lot like diatoms. The small bubbles I see also make me think the start of cyano .

My tank is coming to a year old in january so no its not new

Ive had cyano and treated it and got ride of it

If you didn't address the nutrient issue, them products that remove it will only remove it for a short time and will return.

How did you treat it? If you treated with chemicals like chemi clean or erythromycin without fixing the source of the issue it is probably making a comeback .

Yes but its been sooo long, it looks snotty and with bubbles on top that`s why im thinking dino, i just wrapped it and im doing a 3 day blackout, heard of ppl doing it and helping them so trying that, anyone done that on here? Hope it works

This is an effective way of killing off bad algae and cyano cases. But this still won't solve the nutrient issue in your water column that is causing the continued outbreaks.
