:huh:i been doing a fishless cycle..i tested my ammonia last nite before bed it was at 2.0ppm...cuz i already had nitrite reading this past week..well i can home did my ammonia test and it was at 0ppm but the nitrites were still at 5.0ppm or so..is everything ok..i just redosed it back to 2.0ppm...

How long have you had nitrite and how long has it been 5 ppm? High nitrites are common during cycling and the nitrite phase is the longest and can take up to 3 weeks. As long as ammonia conversion hasn't slowed and PH is stable I wouldn't worry. If nitrites have been high (5+) for over a week you could do a 100% water change(s) to get them down to a readable level but don't be surprised if they shoot up again.

nitrites showed up last tues and didnt get to 5.0ppm till sat...the ph is good in the blue at 7.6ppm..if i dont do a water change...it will be ok..just leave it..is this considered a nitrite spike

im surely hope so..lol..its been a long wait..july 15th
