Can I safely add baking soda to my 55 gallon freshwater tank to help increase my Ph?? Where I live the Ph is very low(below 6) so I have trouble maintaining the level anywhere above 6.5. I have tried Ph raiser, but it doesn't work very well. Or should I just put a little bag of crushed coral in the bottom of my filter? If I do the later, how much should I use, and how much baking soda if I use that method???
I should also tell you that I hard water as well.

I would use crushed coral and it all depends on the tank and how much you want to raise it on how much you need. It will be a trial and error process adding a little at a time till you achieve your desired ph you don't want to shock your little buddies by doing it all at once.
