A huuuuge chunk...probably 50% is gone from the tail. Out of no where.

Also my pH does not seem to want to rise, at all.

What would be the problem? anemone maybe? he alwas goes near it. banded shrimp? tail rot?

pH 7.8 :(

0 for everything else.

Hopefully it was only a crab that maybe tore it off. The good news is it will grow back. Check your water parameters.

I often wake up and see that my sailfin tang has a chunk missing from her fins or sails. Most of the time its just a little snip. I think the coral banded shrimp does it to my sailfin cos he tries to catch her sometimes. It grows back within two days, such a healthy fish!

Well its got a worse....

Im going to do a 20% water change later today, see what happens...

Im convinced it has nothing to do with my water. Something in the tank is eating the caudal fin.
10 minutes ago the angel had some fin left...all the suddon its gone? Could it be from brushing the anemone? The coral banded shrimp?

Could it be from brushing the anemone?

I would think you would see "burnt" or discolored areas, in the case of a sting.

The coral banded shrimp?
Can you stick him in a QT, to see if the he is nipping the angel?

I`m not saying it has to do with the water but you need ideal water conditions for it to regrow.

Well its growing back rather fast IMO. What do you think it was?
