I'm thinking of getting sand for my 29 gallon upgrade, but I can't decide on black or white.

I want it to have a few live plants. My current fish are a GBR, 8 neon tetras, and 4 platy. I want to get some rummy nose tetras and/or some panda or pygmy cory cats when I upgrade.

What other decoration do you plan on getting? What's going to be your main decoration, the one that will catch peoples eyes?

both are great choices, black helps disguise detritus a little better, and the darker substrate brings out the color in some fish.

White is also good, and much cheaper in general, and since it reflects light it makes the tank seem a lot brighter.

I have black in the majority of my tanks, it really brings out the color of fish. The downside is soaks up alot of light, so a brighter fixture is required IMO, I run T5HO fixtures on a everything except the fry tanks.
