Changing Damaged Filter Sponge During Cycle?

My 2 external filters take 4 sponges each and noticed 2 sponges are damaged and almost falling apart, would it be safe to replace those 2? I'd still have 6 of the original ones left over that are fine so shouldn't effect the cycle as long as I don't replace all 8 at once?

Since it is only 2 sponges with having 6 left you'll be fine changing them out.
