Hi. I'm in the process of setting up my tank. It's 48" by 16" by 16". So I believe that's around 44 gallon. Correct me if I'm wrong.

I'm wanting to keep cichlids, demasoni in particular and maybe some other cichlids for colour variation. We've been looking at Dragon blood and yellow lab but I'm getting mixed advice on the best numbers and whether these would be a good mix. We were thinking around 12 altogether. Thanks.

Realised that in us standards, I believe it's about a 55 gallon.

Sounds like a great idea I've seen a few tanks like this mostly a rock set up with lots of caves. Malawi tanks are beautiful and lively enjoy your aquarium!!
